FYI: When applying aftermarket rims, and attempting to avoid fit issues, the optimum offset would run +/- 5mm maximum from OEM.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Hi I have a 996 on a W it's the triptronic s I fitted a set of 19 wheels but they rub the arch can I do anything

POST 6Original post

Bump to this thread guys! I am putting my 997tt back together after some extensive works, I bought this 997 febi guibo and compared it to the old one, seemed the same, so chucked it away... Now I am actually onto rebuild I find that the fit is not perfect as with the OEM one. It has a gap between the metal sleeve and the locating machined hole in the tranny output. The only way to close it is bolt it up then it slightly distorts the Guibo... Not good and I am thoroughly p*ssed off with the car at the minute lol So does anyone know where I can get the GAP01-002 part from? Has anyone else had a fitment issue with the Febi? DO I have the wrong Febi part maybe? or am I missing something... many thanks upload

POST 8Original post

I think I had the same problem as you. I installed 19"s all around and found the rear rubbed ever-so-slightly. 19"x11" w/ et55. (Victor Equipment) I rolled the rear fender lip and now there are no rubbing issues. It's one of the drawbacks when installing wheels with an et60 or less. I've got a '99 nb.

They will not fit. As you tell, they are from C4S and this is Widebody and you have Normal body. From the pictures it seems, that they stick about 3 cm out. It is better to give them back to friend. Best regards, Kras

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 3641929

Quote: Is there any way they can be made to fit as they do look really good

POST 12Original post

Quote: I don't believe so. Chances of fitting WB offset wheels on a NB are slim to none. Fitting NB wheels on a WB can be resolved with spacers. Right now that offset is pushing the wheels too far out for you to use them.

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 3642137

Quote: + 1. WB offset is 40mm. Therefore, your rears are sitting 15mm outward. Move on. FYI: When applying aftermarket rims, and attempting to avoid fit issues, the optimum offset would run +/- 5mm maximum from OEM.

POST 14Original post

I have 20's on my 996 4S and never experience any rubbing. Rides beautifully. You might have the wrong offset for your narrow body.

POST 15Original post

while i think the wheels and tires might fit i have heard from other 996 owners that the ride is not that great

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 3641931

Quote: You know, it's really hard to tell from your photos if the tire protrudes further than the outer edge of the fender. With my tires/wheels, the outer edge of the wheel is almost flush with the outer edge of the fender. The sidewall of the tire is almost flush with the fender but the tread is inside the lip of the fender. I really liked the wheels and didn't want to have to return them, couldn't anyway because tires were mounted, so I rolled the fenders. No rubbing issues and I was able to keep the tires/wheels. The ride is not that harsh but it's a sports car, it's not supposed to feel like you're sitting in your living room. JMO

POST 17Original post

I'm also running 19x11 on the rear of a narrow body 996. Even with smaller and somewhat stretched tires, it should would have rubbed had I not rolled the rear fenders. My car is also lowered on coilovers. The ride quality isn't suitable for daily driving, but then again, I didn't buy the car for daily driving either =) mikegingell: Try to take some photos from the top down. You might be able to solve this problem with different sized tires and a fender roll if you really love the wheels.

POST 18Original post

Easy solution: Coilovers --> Lower + camber it. HELLAFLUSH

POST 23Original post

I think this set of 19"'s were the best looking wheels I ever had on my car. The fittment and offsets were perfect. However, the car did not agree. If you never drive your car agressively or on a track, you would probably think they were great. However, when pushed hard, the traction control system totally freaked out. It was very disconcerting when it locked up one of the front brakes when going into a corner. I sold them to a guy with a 996 Turbo, and he said the same thing. he sold them and went back to 18"'s. JMO - YMMV

POST 24Original post

When I moved to the 19", I tried to put 295s in the rear, but it was just too tight of a fit Ended up putting 285s and I am happy with the results I didn't have to roll the fenders

POST 25Original post

Did anybody tried to lift up the car instead of lower it? I have the same problem with my 19" rims
