Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I check the M535 module under the seat and cleaned it just in case (no sign of water damage), I also cleaned the ground point under the seat that was slightly rusted and charged the battery but still no luck.
Leading evidence: 'permanent power' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'permanent power' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check m535 module' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Some progress after blowing a few 5A fuses until I realised it was a 15A and replaced the passenger door actuator.

Everything else works, as in car start and run and I can lock and unlock doors manually (although I suspect alarm is never armed)

If the fuse keeps blowing, there is likely a short on that circuit.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

HI All,
New to me 986.2 has some known issues:
- front bonnet doesn't open (only with the release cable)
- key remote doesn't work
Interestingly, dash receiver is flashing when pressing the key when key is in ignition position.
Radio doesn't work either and interior lights only when key is in ignition.
I check the M535 module under the seat and cleaned it just in case (no sign of water damage), I also cleaned the ground point under the seat that was slightly rusted and charged the battery but still no luck.
Any suggestions to troubleshoot further? Everything else works, as in car start and run and I can lock and unlock doors manually (although I suspect alarm is never armed)

Issue was with permanent power to the alarm module and more specifically the fuse on said module.
Replaced it (guessing it's a 5A) and courtesy light are back and key remote works ... at least once as fuse gets blown again so the saga continues
If the fuse keeps blowing, there is likely a short on that circuit. On the 986 it is worth checking the wiring in the door jambs and around the front trunk latch, as those wires can wear and short out.
Thanks!
Some progress after blowing a few 5A fuses until I realised it was a 15A and replaced the passenger door actuator. "progress" as the car remote now works but then on second opening, fuse blew again after a few seconds while the car was open.
Guess is that alarm module tried to lock back and something is shorting it. Got the other door actuator and front trunk one on order but might check those wires.
Anything specific to look for and more importantly fix ?
