I just renewed with ClassicLine for my 2018 991.2 gt3.

Another interesting snip of info is when I picked up the 4RS I used Porsche five-day cover which always includes a quote for the whole year.

With regards to Admiral vs Classicline vs Any other insurer check the policy docs and see what the differences are because there will be some.

I am collecting a new (to me) 991.2 GT3 on Saturday and am concerned my current insurer is going to let me down (waiting for them to come back to confirm the change of car).

I'd love to use Classic Line but the car has to be garaged - something to bear in mind, not sure if it only applies to GT cars though (I have a GT4) - and this is regardless of Post Code as I never get that far through the quote process!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am collecting a new (to me) 991.2 GT3 on Saturday and am concerned my current insurer is going to let me down (waiting for them to come back to confirm the change of car). So potentially I need to change insurer tomorrow and will at least want a quote or 2 in case.
I need more than 5000 miles per year and track cover for 3 or 4 track days per year which I currently have but on a C2S.
I’ve done a bit of searching and looks like my shortlist should be:
Classicline
Footman James
Manning
I understand Locktons only do 5000 miles and PCGB track days so not on my list.
Any particular recommendations for best place to start or indeed other alternatives would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Classic line did a very competitive quote for me (albeit on a GT4) last week which included track cover for up to 10 days but they did require a tracker which I couldn’t have activated before the cover started and there was no grace period. Ended up staying with the current insurer (Admiral) but will probably look to change it I do get any track days organised.
If you are buying from an OPC you should be eligible for the 5 day drive away insurance through Porsche insure. Won't cover track use and will require tracker but may be enough to give you some time to sort out your long term insurance and tax the car.
I have a collector policy through Lockton which includes my 991.1GT3RS. No mileage limit, no usage type restrictions, UK track day cover included. Can give you the contact details for my account manager if you PM me.
My 991.2 GT3 is insured through A-Plan who back it off to Zurich
5k miles/year, 5 trackdays, guaranteed value & porsche repairs, car not garaged...... about 2.2k
Classicline here for a 991.1. They were by far the cheapest of the specialists, consistently around £1k per year including track cover, and they don't insist on a tracker (although my car is only worth around 100k, so might be different for a .2).
For what it's worth, Direct Line were willing to insure my 991.2 for less than £600 as long as it had a tracker. That would have been without the trackday cover and porsche repairs though.
I just renewed with ClassicLine for my 2018 991.2 gt3. Tracker, PCGB member, fully comp, 6 track days per year, up to 5k miles per year MK postcode for £1300

I’ve ended up taking the 5 day drive away insurance from Porsche, mainly as I ran out of time! I was insured via A Plan who wouldn’t give track cover because of the value, contrary to Fistenberger above, strangely. Feels like I need to try Classicline on Tuesday - car will be garage so should be fine. Thanks again for the input
Further clarification on Lockton's and track days. You can go on a UK circuit, PCGB organised track day without notifying them.
If you want to do a non-PCGB event, you can ask. There are about ten questions (e.g. your experience, overtaking rules, instruction available etc) that they put to their underwriters. I have never had one declined, including charity passenger events.
I'm in the same boat with insurance for a 991.2, admiral the cheapest but no trackday cover or agreed value but I like the fact that I don't have to activate the tracker. Classicline a few quid more but with all the add ons however I do have to activate the tracker. What are the thoughts on tracker as it seems to be a problematic addition, and do the insurance company use the data in the event of any claims?

If you have the option don't go with the tracker especially if its the Porsche version.
I have a 992 with Classicline at £1650 and it must have an active tracker.
Collected my car 2nd March and alarm went off several times on 28th March and tracker locked the car and went totally dead. The car is still with Porsche OPC and Germany are trying now to resolve. The car has been with Porsche longer than me if you have the option avoid the tracker better not to have the risk.

That might be a 992 issue ? I’ve got three cars that have the Porsche tracker and have had them all for several years. Touch wood no problems.
With regards to Admiral vs Classicline vs Any other insurer check the policy docs and see what the differences are because there will be some. Insurance companies all make the same kind of margins….its about frequency of pay out (how easily they pay out and whether they delay for days or weeks) and whether you can use a repairer of your choice etc.
I don’t know if it is still the case but I left Admiral many years ago I when I found out that they only paid out on the value of a base spec car…despite them being extremely fastidious in knowing every single spec item on the car. That is effectively why they were cheaper back then…..because in a total loss event they paid out 10% less than most other insurers.

Lockton has recently changed policy and now will only cover PCGB days with no exceptions. At least that's what they told me when I asked for cover on my GT4 RS a month ago.

Might be value of your car Taffy ?
They just said they'd had a recent change of heart due to some expensive claims on track. Insurers in general are gradually tightening up on track day cover.
Another interesting snip of info is when I picked up the 4RS I used Porsche five-day cover which always includes a quote for the whole year. Surprisingly they were by far the cheapest but were very vague on track day cover until I pressed them. When I asked for a quote on my 718GT4, in complete contrast, they were the most expensive. In fact it was nearly twice what they quoted for the 4RS despite half the value.
NFU are also no longer as competitive and I ended up insuring both the 4RS and GT4 with ClassicLine.

Surely that's underwriter-dependent. Lockton are a broker, not an insurer. I've had no trouble getting trackday cover for mine so far (except for Spa, where I had to get separate cover as they don't do anything outside the UK).

If you use A-Plan private client, they will quote via Zurich. I would imagine you dealt with one of their regional offices instead?
Thanks again to all the input and some really useful nuggets that really helped me. I thought I'd repay that by summarising what I learnt having spent a lot more time on this than expected in case useful for future reference:
Porsche 5 day drive away - great to buy some time and easily forgotten, big help for me;
Porsche annual policy that is offered with 5 day - looked like a good policy and reasonable price but only includes PCGB track days;
Locktons - again would only cover PCGB track days;
Classicline - really helpful, good policy with 5 track days, well priced, but garaging a non-negotiable - it's garaged at home but I occasionally leave the car outside a second home (in a drive behind gates) and that was a problem;
Footman James - would cover with track days and parking outside but strangely wouldn't cover for business 1 use (going to the occasional meeting);
A Plan Private client - I was previously with them through a local office who couldn't do track cover for the GT3 and didn't refer me to private client office but I called them based on the recommendations here and sure enough they could cover through Zurich, parking outside okay, 3 track days, business okay, 6000 miles so i went with them, (on the last day of my 5 day drive away!). Just over £2k.
Thanks again
Always drive track days without insurance as should be safe and driving within your limits ......... but then I also race with no insurance in much more expensive stuff .

You* may be driving within your limits, but is everyone else? Ian Flux once said to me that he always wears full nomex on track days as he thinks you're more likely to end up in the wall, thanks to someone else running out of talent - and road cars don't usually have fire suppression either. I took that to heart - however much of a wannabe it makes you look - and take insurance too, for the same reason.
