I had the a/c rads replaced when I bought the car so not worries there, its not cold but I guess they didn't have time to re-gas but hey ho.

Suggestion

the gas also provides lubrication to the pump so if the pump is running on little or no gas then you will both get not much cooling but also could damage the system

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys I noticed this weekend that my a/c maks a hell of a noise, sometimes louder than the engine in tick over with the windows shut, anyone had this problem? It make a hissing noise and general groaning noise, even when the blower is on minimum, I have resorted to turning it off totally and just having the windows open (you can hear the engine better anyway!) I had the a/c rads replaced when I bought the car so not worries there, its not cold but I guess they didn't have time to re-gas but hey ho. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

hi there as i understand it, the gas also provides lubrication to the pump so if the pump is running on little or no gas then you will both get not much cooling but also could damage the system i suppose its a bit like a water pump without water in system will run too fast with no resistance i realise that this is a very simplistic statement but i have been told by more than one garage on more than one make of car exactly the same thing so i assume its true for 911s too cheers tim

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Tim, interesting. I best nip down to Kwik Fit but never too keen having the McDonalds refugees working on my car! Cheers

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Tim Thanks for the advice. I misjudged Kwik Fit, re-gas done for £49. Now perfect and the groaning has stopped! Very good service! :thumb: Thanks again Tim

POST 5Original post

hi there glad to be of help and such an easy solution cheers tim

POST 6Original post
