Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've also used kwik-fit in the past for aircon checks and been happy,

Suggestion
A lot of people on here say they wouldn't let the Kwik-fit monkeys anywhere near their cars but I took mine there for a re-gas when they were running their late spring special offer (£25.00) and after checking the temp on my car they called me out and showed me they wouldn't be able to get it any colder than it already was they also told me the system was fine with no leaks.

I noticed last weekend that the air-con wasn't that cold, I'm sure someone recommended Kwik Fit for a re-gas or is there a better place to go?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Nice lads, good service and didn't charge me a penny which makes a change in these days of ripping people off at any opportunity. :thumb:
Here's their guarantee on aircon recharging
Recharge or No Charge
Let Kwik Fit recharge your Air Con while-u-wait. We will replace and recharge lubricant and refrigerant levels in line with your manufacturer's recommendation. If we cannot improve the coolest vent temperature from your car by more than 10% when measured in degrees Celsius - then you pay nothing at all.*
They just did mine and it seems to have done the trick - I missed the 'winter' offer and had to pay £49.00, but all they do is attach some hoses - it's not exactly rocket science and they put all the plastic covers back correctly under the bonnet without breaking any clips or anything...
I also didn't think mine was that cold, popped into Kwik Fit and asked for temp measure before proceeding with any pressure testing or re-gassing. Chap stuck probe into vent. New cars manage around 7 deg.C, mine was 8deg. well within tolerance, just saved £49.
I've also used kwik-fit in the past for aircon checks and been happy,
Indeed, one time, they took much longer than they advised me as the machine was playing up, and they gave me a £25 voucher off tyres/exhausts, I gave it to my daughter.
ALSO, try this...... and others feedback on this would be good,
I tend to leave the a/c switched on all the time, most places recommend this, but for others it's a personal choice,
On odd occasions the air from the a/c isn't cold, so I switch off the a/c for a few minutes, switch it on, and voila !!!!! nice cold ice cold air again,
Maybe a sticky flap or solenoid or something, but try it yourselves and see.

Rang Kwik Fit they don't offer guarantee's anymore on improving the efficiency etc that was last year? But will test the car for free, Standard re-gas £49 takes1hr or air-con service with new pollen filter cleans air vents etc £69 takes 2hrs.
its a really easy job that is mostly done by a computerised machine so its really hard to either mess it up or do any damage as the pipe connections are readily accessible. Kwik Fit are fine.
Good to know. I usually have the aircon button off unless is hot day. Noticed a couple of weeks ago that the air is actually colder with the chiller button set to off! Will visit kwik fit for am assessment...
So been to Kwik-Fit and they carried out the re-gas... which worked, however, the mechanic stated he felt there is a problem with my compressor as the revs don't rise/fall on tickover when the aircon button is pressed/depressed... how much and what's involved in fitting a new compressor?
Feels ever so slightly colder now though - and they said they couldn't charge me.
Thanks for the feedback I've probably got the same problem then, because my revs don't rise/fall on tick over when I push the air-con button either?
At least you didn't get charged which is good.
Check the button first.........
But if you are in London and do need a new compressor, this guy is good,
Alpinair, just off Hanger Lane and very close to the Ace Cafe.

Give them a call, the owner is called, Sam, he uses OEM parts, and is a nice guy to deal with. (They retro fitted a/c into my 964 and Merc).
Took the car to Kwik-Fit in Hatch End today who re-gassed the air-con for £49, I don't think it had been done for ages, but it's nice and cold now! was told if it didn't stay cold I'd get a refund, can't say fairer than that, I can recommend the service there nice bloke Phil did it. :thumb:
Thanks for the heads up re these guys, however, having lived with the aircon for the past couple of weeks since Kwikfit re-gassed it I have noticed it is in fact a lot colder than it was previously...
So - in answer to the original post Kwikfit is as good as anywhere... especially when they do it FOC!
I'm glad that the general consensous seems to back up my earlier post that Kwilfit can do a good job are reasonably priced and friendly, shame most OPC's can't seem to provide this level of customer satisfaction, service and pricing.
