Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. I just have to decide whether to use the 968 as a downpayment or to keep it!

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello everyone, I am hoping that in about 2+ years I can hopefully upgrade to a 996 (might still keep the 968)
It will have to be the least costly model, as I will be scraping to obtain the needed funds, I am wondering what the projected price would be for a MY 99 or 00 996 C2 in 2-3 years from now? Mileage not a factor (within reason)
Here is to hoping!
Luckily I work for a bank so I get good financing rates and terms...
With the introduction of the 997 the price of 996 will most likely plummit more. You can get 99 996 c2 for 40 k or so right now. In 2 years mid too low 30's would not be out of the question.
Thanks for the info...............as owners we dread the depreciation of our cars.
But as prospective, owners depreciation "can" be a good thing when comparing the entry fee, before and after. I am sure we all hope for strong prices though in general.
I was budgeting for mid $30's......hopefully I will find a good car. I just have to decide whether to use the 968 as a downpayment or to keep it!

Here's an ebay 996 *CAB* with a "buy now" price of $39K. And I'd expect the introduction of the 997 will have a noticable effect in pricing.
The nice thing *for you* is that I think your 968 has leveled out in value.
But here's a question: I wonder, on average, what would be cheaper over four years of ownership?
A: Your plan of buying your '99 (50,000 miles) in 2005 ~ all four years of out-of-warantee ownership.
B: Or, buying a less-worn '03 (20,000 miles)in 2005 and getting a couple years of under-warantee driving.
The cab looks like a great car and deal given the mileage...... Mileage/cost is something to be considered and weighed in any such purchase, there maybe some "good" deals on higher mileage cars.
Your question is interesting, whether to purchase an older model (99-00) four years or so out of warranty or go newer, pay a bit more but have some warranty coverage. I guess it's a role of the dice to some extent......hopefully on the older car, any "glitches" have hopefully been caught and covered under warranty already, and anything else could be just your standard wear, and regular maintenance items. I would be happy though, if on my newer, warranty car, I had a major malfuction, etc and it was covered under warranty.
Maybe the maintenece issues will work themselves out over the next few years on this newer 911 and we should have a better idea what to expect.
I guess it would also depend to a degree on the individual car, price etc at the time I go for purchase.
I agree pricing should remain stable on the 968, thanks for your input.
