I added a little at a time and kept checking the dipstick.

It's a very clean system comparied to the OEM system IMHO.

I always just use some of the engine oil to lubricate the o-rings before replacing the filter.

Filter should be installed by hand then once snug, turned another 3/4 to 1 turn to finish filter installation, or to the filter manufacturers recommended specifications.

Was pretty easy but this oil change cost me about $400, when you include the torque wrench, filter wrench, Oil bucket, 26mm socket, set of allen wrench sockets, Spin-on Filter Adapter, Magnetic Drain Plug, ramps.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've done a couple of very minor mods to my 2000 C2 Cab since I got it a month or so ago.
Disamberfication of the side lights
Aluminum instrument cluster rings
LED third brake light
I bought the LN Engineering Spin-on Oil filter adapter, Napa Gold Filter, and magnetic drain plug from Pelican Parts...AHHHHHHHHH!
Sorry, I just spilled a glass of Robert Mondavi Napa '93 cab in my lap.
Anyway, no instructions came with the adapter. I know it just screws on, but it probably should be torqued. I searched this site and found links to YouTube videos that are no longer there. I also searched the LNEngineering website, which seems to have a lot of broken links.
Does anyone have instructions for this?
Let me know how it goes I was thinking of doing same mod to my 2004 on the next oil change. I have never been a big fan of cartridge filters. The magnetic drain plug seems like a good idea and I have had them on other cars. Cant' hurt.
BTW, I can't help with installation instructions but had similar setup on my Volvo and it usually they are just a male / male type adapter. (i.e. one side threads into your engine block where the cartridge filter cover went and the other end gives you the proper threading for a canister filter to thread on to. I am sure someone on here will chime in.
I put this unit on my Porsche a couple of months ago. It's no big deal...I think I torqued it around 18 ft. lbs. It's a very clean system comparied to the OEM system IMHO.
Hope this helps,
Patrick
It's on thier website see below:
Instructions for spin on adapter
Lubricate both o-rings prior to installation with appropriate o-ring lubricant. Screw the oil filter adapter onto the engine by hand. You can feel when the rubber O-rings begin to seat and once the adapter snugs up to the block, tighten the spin-on filter adapter using installation tool (if installing Rev 0) or slip the appropriate 26mm socket over the filter nipple to tighten (Rev 1, sold after Dec 2009)
Unless the spin-on filter adapter is butted up to the block, it is not installed right. Once the spin-on filter adapter is mated with the block correctly, then torque - do not exceed 25 Nm (18 Ft/Lbs) torque when tightening.
Also be sure to oil the filter gasket first before installing! Filter should be installed by hand then once snug, turned another 3/4 to 1 turn to finish filter installation, or to the filter manufacturers recommended specifications.
And for the plug:
Uses O.E. sealing ring Porsche part number 900 123 106 30 (two rings are included with retail purchase only). Torque to 37 ft/lb (50 Nm). Replace sealing ring every time you re-install the drain plug.
Thanks so much! I plan on doing the installation and oil change in the morning. For some reason I kept getting "Page not found" errors when searching the LNEngineering site. Maybe they were doing maintenance at the time.
"Lubricate both o-rings prior to installation with appropriate o-ring lubricant. "
My adapter only has one o-ring. Is one missing? Also, what is an "appropriate o-ring lubricant"?
You're right - here is a a small o-ring on the inside that I didn't see. Thanks. What made me worry is that there appears to be a second channel on the exterior that looks like it could be for an o-ring. I guess I'll just hit them both with a little fresh motor oil before the installation.
Ok, all done. Was pretty easy but this oil change cost me about $400, when you include the torque wrench, filter wrench, Oil bucket, 26mm socket, set of allen wrench sockets, Spin-on Filter Adapter, Magnetic Drain Plug, ramps. Plus the oil and filter.
I put in 9 quarts of oil, then let the engine run for a few minutes. I checked the dipstick and it was low. I added a little at a time and kept checking the dipstick. Adding the whole 10th quart brought the level just below the second hole on the dipstick. The electronic gauge show full (all bars). Is this a problem? Is 10 quarts too much?
Thanks. After letting the car rest a while, the dipstick now shows slightly above the top hole. I've read a lot of posts about this here and this is another one of those issues - It's good/bad for your engine.
