Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I use a pair on customers 996 & 997 wheels and it ensures the wheel goes on perfectly, it avoids the rishk of bashing the inner rim on the caliper or disc and saves you a lot of sweat trying to balance the wheel with one hand and insert bolts with the other!

Check your tool bag that comes with the car, you should have an aluminium rod that has a knurked end and a threaded end....that is what you need.

Hi, I've had a search around on the site and is probably a simple question but which part of the car would you put a jack under to lift the front in one go and then the same question for the rear.

There is a way of doing it at the front which involves using a bit of square tube to straddle the chassis rails.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I've had a search around on the site and is probably a simple question but which part of the car would you put a jack under to lift the front in one go and then the same question for the rear. I don't want to go from side to side as I'm placing on axle stands and don't want it falling off as I jack the other side up. Thanks Dan

POST 2Original post

Use the engine arrestor at the rear (dead centre & just in front of the ARB when viewed from the rear). There is a way of doing it at the front which involves using a bit of square tube to straddle the chassis rails. I've seen it done but didn't bother to see exactly how as I find jacking one side will easily lift both wheels off the ground sufficiently to get a second jack (I only have one that's low enough to get under the car unjacked) the other side & thence onto stands.

POST 3Original post

http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/997-forum/547471-how-to-jacking-up-a-997-safely-securely.html This is the safest way, there is an alternative using part of the engine casing but I'd stick to the above. Oh, and if you can't see it you haven't registered to Rennlist, I strongly recommend you do... :thumb:

Thanks very much, I'm impressed at how rigid the body is in a couple of the photos

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That all worked, thanks for the help, bit disconcerting seeing her on the garage floor with no wheels on. I did read an article somewhere which spoke of a tool to help line the alloy up with the holes before putting the wheel bolts back in, almost like a rubber stick which screwed into the hole allowing the wheel to slide across it to align the studs. Anybody know where I can get one?

POST 6Original post

Check your tool bag that comes with the car, you should have an aluminium rod that has a knurked end and a threaded end....that is what you need. Alternatively I can supply these. I use a pair on customers 996 & 997 wheels and it ensures the wheel goes on perfectly, it avoids the rishk of bashing the inner rim on the caliper or disc and saves you a lot of sweat trying to balance the wheel with one hand and insert bolts with the other! :thumb:
