I saw this over the weekend at Bolton OPC (marked at £24,999) and it is totally mint (i saw it before it was prepped - must have been garaged), 2 local owners and the book is full of OPC stamps (5 Brake fluid changes), serviced every year regardless of mileage (i.e.

Also has 4 new tyres and whilst the interior is a bit shocking the new 2 year warranty is making me think it might be a good car to run for 2 years.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
Finally moving from my 5th BMW (currently in an E46 330ci) to a 996. Budget around £25k but that must include 2 years warranty (i.e. £23k without).
5-6k between). Also has 4 new tyres and whilst the interior is a bit shocking the new 2 year warranty is making me think it might be a good car to run for 2 years.
The interior is more of a terracotta but has black seat centres and mats.
Thoughts most appreciated!
Cheers
Matt

Well, I'm encouraged by the price/mileage/interior colour ratio!! :floor:
I would say that you could do a lot better with your sort of money elsewhere for a car with half of that mileage. You've mentioned the colour of the interior which might mean that you're not that keen on it. If this is the case then I would just look around - the market is awash with 996's.
I don't think that you shouldn't be paying circa £26k for a car with 60k miles on it - just take your time and look around.
Have to agree with others, personal choice and all that (says the man who bought in speed Yellow  ).......But,seriously you have a great budget and can buy better/newer/less miles etc easily.
Wow - I do like strong colours but that interior is OTT for me and suspect the centre of the seats has been done aftewards to tone it down somewhat.
The only downside will be trying to sell it on at some point as the interior is not to everyones taste. Also not sure in a 996 if sun glare from the dash is a problem - usually is with light covered dash tops.
You are paying top price for this and as others have said you may/will find better and if private invest in a policy like Hartech offer. Seen some good ones on here being sold by enthusiasts. For instance my Indy has a rather nice one albeit a tip:

I know it's a 996 and some early engines prone to going 'pop' (not all) why do you want 2 year warranty?
I can see the attraction of OPC and two years etc but you have really got to want it with that interior , and it might be difficult to sell two years from now, I would bide my time and something similair will pop up with the right colours, its only my opinion mind good luck anyway Mike
I would echo what everyone else has said; shop around, there are plenty out there (although be warned it's not exactly like shopping for a Ford Focus, or even a BMW - there aren't thousands and thousands of them out there but there are enough for you to be
fairly
specific on colour / interior). For me the mileage is too high on that one on your link; you could do better for similar money (although probably not from an OPC).
That said, unless it's a colour / interior / option that you really really couldn't live with, I would advise buying on condition because the car with the
exact
spec that you want may only come up for sale a few times a year (eg you want red, C4S, PSE, must have sunroof, sports seats, litronics, less than 30k on the clock, full OPC history etc. - you may find one with everything but PSE, or one with PSE but 65k on the clock, or one with everything but sports seats etc.).
I didn't want a yellow 996 (only because my last car was yellow), but when I saw the one I eventually bought, the condition won me over - it was immaculate, it could have sat next to a 10-plate 997 in an OPC showroom, there was honestly not a mark on it inside or out. Also had most things I wanted on it, factory-fitted.
Another tip - you may have to travel to get a good one. I had an 800-mile round trip from Manchester to the top of Scotland to get mine, but it was worth it... 8)
