I filled my c4s up today as it was on the red light with the indicator advising me to 'consider my fuel range'.

You have run into the age old problem that is certainly seen on my 996 C4S, and I believe manifests itself on other 996s.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I'm a new user to this forum but have came across something that somebody may be able to clarify. I filled my c4s up today as it was on the red light with the indicator advising me to 'consider my fuel range'. However, when I returned to the car to continue my journey it still asked me to 'consider my fuel range' and did so again when I re-started it later. Could this be a sensor problem or am I missing something? Thanks Mark

An age old problem with the 996!! Hope I can help... Smudge, You have run into the age old problem that is certainly seen on my 996 C4S, and I believe manifests itself on other 996s. The issue is this - the 996's petrol tank spans across the front of the car in an 'n' shape over the front wheel arches. The petrol tank measuring device is on the passenger side (which works for European LHD cars). However, when it runs very low, it will not recognise you have refilled, until you can fill it enough whereby the driver's side gets full and the petrol runs over to the other side. I'm sure other members will correct me for being a bit inaccurate, but I find this problem is solved if you fill up over half the tank (i.e. over £35-40 in London prices). Hope this helps, and don't worry - it is natural :thumb: Cheers mate!
