Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

I just changed the coolent even though it looked perfect but what wanted to mention is I’ve noticed in the last 2 seasons that when the car is warming up runnin down the road the thermostat needle would move in chunks or sections , it’s like it stuck in 1 spot then suddenly move maybe 1/8” and stop up until it was in the middle at approx 180 temp I thought this was normal.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have 150000 kilometres on my 06 Boxster S now and it has the original coolent an thermostat. That is until I installed a new unit. Now it moves so slowly u hardly see it moving. It’s a slow gradual increase up to normal temp. I think the old original was starting to stick luckily it never stuck permanently open or closed. I guess these parts eventually fail jus like the water pump.I would. It have known this was a possible issue until I read about people preemptivey change if them out so keep an eye on my gage and that’s when I noticed it fyi

POST 2Original post

thanks for sharing Warren! btw have you changed the water pump before?

POST 3Original post

Sticky thermostat is the only thing that’s failed on my 2011 CS. Fortunately it failed stuck open, so no ill effects other than the thrown code. Had the tensioner replaced while they were in there and things remain perfect to this day.
