Changing oil on a 2012 Cayman R, don't know all the prior history but has a LN spin-on oil filter adapter and I was expecting it to be a Napa 1348 or equivalent filter as per LN website: https://lnengineering.com/spin-on-oi...yman-only.html However filter on it currently is a K&N HP-1007 which is equivalent to Napa 1042 recommended by LN for the M97/987.1 spin on filter adapter: https://lnengineering.com/spin-on-oi...ayman-911.html Tried calling LN but didn't exactly get a clear answer, anyone know what's up? Can I use the Napa 1348 filter I've already bought or is it possible that the car is fitted with a M97/987.1 adapter and needs the Napa 1042 or equivalent filter?

The 987.1 and 987.2 have different engines, so a different adapter and filter would make sense. When you remove the old filter match the new one to it and make sure the rubber ring is the same size.

Thanks I think I figured it out, looks like LN spin on filter adapter for M97/ 987.1 (P/N 106-01) was also compatible on 987.2s, later they made a new version specifically for 987.2s. Looks like this Cayman R has the older LN spin on filter adapter so needs to use the filter for that adapter.
