I thought the stub aerial at the back was for the sat nav which has been replaced by a hidden aerial on later cars.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • PistonHeads: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

The radio reception on my '98MY C2 is absolutely fine. Sound system is standard as far as I know. The car has a stubby ariel above the rear window, which I assume is for the radio. The only reason I mention this is that it's missing on some 911s I've seen. Kevin

POST 2Original post

Mine is fine in my '99 C2.Just the standard CD Radio.Mine has the aerial in the screen. Steve >> Edited by sb930turbo (moderator) on Wednesday 2nd April 18:42

POST 3Original post

No problem in my 02 996 with Bose minidisc headunit. My 96 S'class merc is another matter. The reception on Medium wave is appalling and the radio shop say there is nothing they can do. Something to do with interference with the cars electronics for which Meredes couldn't offer an explanation. DAZ

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I thought the stub aerial at the back was for the sat nav which has been replaced by a hidden aerial on later cars. Mine definitely has an aerial in the front screen which I guess is for the radio. Rob >> Edited by ChopperEllis on Thursday 3rd April 01:41

Funny man. How's the radio in the Cerbie? Not that you can hear it with your pipes

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I apologise if this has been asked before but I can't find anything using the search so here goes. How good is the radio reception in your 996? Mine is crap. I have a 2002 996 Turbo with the standard Bose system. Driving around the Woking/Guildford area and listening to Capital is terrible. In fact, it's only the BBC stations that give good reception but I draw the line at Radio 1. I've asked AFN to fix it but all they say is "they all do that Sir". It's like being back in my Cerbera! Has anyone else experience this and, if so, did you manage to fix it?
