I just spoke to my local Indy as I've just changed the centre rad and he said you need to put the system under vacuum on a turbo to get all the air out.

Suggestion

It could be something as simple as an airlock in the system that wasn't bled properly after replacing the pipe.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My car has got a coolant leak two weeks ago, replaced a pipe and refilled the system all seemed ok. Then last week driving along and a pipe blew off (just a push in fitting) in the driver side wheel arch and emptied the system again. Tonight i checked and found the header tank was still pressurised even though i havent drove the car for 4 hours and i had left the little coke can like pressure bleed open! Any info would be great cheers!

POST 2Original post

It could be something as simple as an airlock in the system that wasn't bled properly after replacing the pipe. On the Turbos you need the car connected to a PST or PIWIS to bleed it properly. Or it could be the hose connection was weak anyway. Or a small possibility of the head gasket going therefore pressurising the system although if there was enough pressure to push off a hose you would have seen it coming out of the coolant cap.

POST 3Original post

Sorry to nip in. Minny, I was planning on changing a rad soon, can you go into in a bit more detail, the needing to connect the car to a PST or PIWIS to bleed the system properly please? As i'm miles from a porsche specialist or OPC ta

POST 4Original post

Here's what the manual says: Bleeding the cooling system Note: The cooling system is bled in connection with the Porsche System Tester 2 1. Connect the Porsche System Tester 2 and switch on the ignition. 2. Select menu item "Special function" in the "Vehicle type" menu. 3. Press the → key to change to the "Control units" menu. 4. Select menu item "Cooling system" in the "Control units" menu and press the >> key. Note: The following message appears on the screen: "Start function with [F8]" 5. Press the F8 key and follow the further instructions of the Porsche System Tester 2 Not that helpful, I'm afraid without having one in front of you to do it.

think i'll just chance it lol, once i've got all the bits

POST 6Original post

I just spoke to my local Indy as I've just changed the centre rad and he said you need to put the system under vacuum on a turbo to get all the air out. Mine is going down tomorrow to get bled properly just to be sure, even though I think I've got virtually all the air out.
