Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

 • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Based on an earlier post, it seems that my buddy can not run at limerock (even in the beginners group) with his 996 cab - either with softtop up or with the pop-up rollbars. So, what is the easiest/cheapest rollbar that he can install that will not permanently damage/alter his car? He is a beginner, so we just want easy & convienent. thanks. All advice is welcome. =rob

POST 3Original post

I would not base this decision on a post. Contact an official from the club you want to run with. With regard to the effect on the car, I agree with the post above. Go with the hard top if you can. A roll bar for a beginner is a big investment and the install will effect the interior. What happens if he decides not to continue? Alternatively, consider doing a de with a club at another venue. There are many great tracks not far from you that may not require a roll bar. I have run at Sebring, Homestead and Moroso in a BoxsterS with just the soft top up. This way your friend can see if he wants to stay with it and then the roll bar will make more sense. Just my humble opinion, Mike

POST 4Original post

DAS has a bolt in bar, Not sure if it fits a Cab see here .. Dougherty Motor Sports . Also , Porsche sell a stainless steel job that looks really nice. I think you are too late for either this year and will have to get the hardtop.

POST 5Original post

I was told the same thing from a DE instructor. I was also told that the hard top was not good enough (I question this). I really want to attend a DE class but this makes it quite difficult for the novice.

POST 6Original post

The roll bar situation depends on the track. Seems Lime Rock had an "Incident" a couple of years ago with a Miata, hence the "attitude". I agree with Slodrivingmike, Check with your club first. Go to http://www.metronypca.org/ and there is clarification on Cabs and Boxters
