Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a Porsche 911 carrera 4S and recently the heater fan has been on constantly even when the ignition is off. Does anyone know any if this is a common fault or an easy fix? I’m also looking to buy a diagnostic tool for this car if anyone could recommend a good one? Many thanks

POST 2Original post

Which generation 911 do you have? On the 996 generation the ignition switch is known to play up and can leave circuits live even with the key removed.

POST 5Original post

Internal - human heater - fan or external radiator fan? If it's the external radiator fan as I suspect, then it's almost certainly the resistor that Edgbaston shouted about above

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It’s the internal heater fan that is constantly on
