Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

31 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Found a GT2 (2004) model year online at OPC in S. Africa, take a close look at the splitter? What's the verdict on it, wrong one fitted or a updated piece? Is it the turbo splitter that is part of the aero kit that has been fitted? Looks a very nice example, in a great colour with the benefit of the carbon trim.

POST 3Original post

Love it in red but is it not fitted with the Turbo front lip!

POST 4Original post

KAL said: Love it in red but is it not fitted with the Turbo front lip! oh well, you won't be buying it then Mr Fussy. Next ........ oh, how about the tyre pressures? Ring them, ask about that, maybe another another wise reason not to buy.

POST 5Original post

Hadn't realised they were interchangeable? I'd prefer a front splitter which was a little less low than standard.

POST 6Original post

The standard GT2 one is a little flexible, so more resilient.

m33ufo said: Hadn't realised they were interchangeable? They're not, this is some pointless piece of tat that will splinter into a grillion pieces the first time the car is driven properly over some give and take roads.

POST 8Original post

It's just a little annoying to hear my brand new one touching down so often. It is flexible as you say though and it's just the underside that gets a little rough.

POST 12Original post

Midnight Blue is a great colour. Please accept my sincere apologies for the unintentional slight. Have to say I think the GT2 makes Arctic Silver look fantastic - and that doesn't happen to often! Really accentuates the curves

POST 13Original post

Guards my favorite, (and practical too ! !) but oh so rare. I think this front splitter may have more than a couple of scuffs ......

POST 14Original post

Its £71,000 asking though. Then add shipping, duty and vat and it will stand you at around £96,000 which is a lot of money for a 10yr old car IMHO of course. Yes it has only done 25,000 miles but it is not a C16 UK car come resale time.

POST 16Original post

m33ufo said: Move to South Africa and avoid the duty? Probably less hassle than finding a decent 996 GT2 these days They look great in Guards Red, I regret not buying the 997 GR GT2 from Bristol 6 months before I bought my boring old black one

Might be slight premium but OPC selling adds some value although they would have to do a private warranty as isn't it too old for the approved Porsche warranty?

Looks very odd, but perhaps just because we're not used to it.

POST 20Original post

Did someone say Guards Rail? Bad news about the splitter is that it scrapes all the time (unless you install a front-lift as I did eventually). The good news is, it's made of rubber thus quite resilient and cheap when it's time to replace it.

POST 21Original post

Doesn't look like rubber to me. It's a type of plastic, but thin enough to be flexible.

POST 22Original post

different spoiler than ours so how much is our car worth hopefully at goodwood next week anyone fancy it?

I never saw it whilst at OPC for sale but recently had an unsolicited offer I made to owner at well over £100k turned down on it. Fancied something a bit more lively than my turbo as no longer need a daily driver to do the commute in. I did see yours for sale at West London but wanted something other than black. As an aside I think this red 996 GT2 is worth £96k day night long as a mark 2. Very very rare care.

POST 31Original post

I'll give you a clue. When I sold it to the good gentlemen at 911V in 2008, Tom said that it was the best 996 interior he'd ever seen (and smelt) condition wise . Many seem to be garage queens rather than hard used hacks these days. A great shame. I did 20k miles in that car in ALL weathers (as you can see........) That particular photo was taken the day after a late night run from N.Wales to the Midlands and back. The temperature was -5. Such was the low temperature AND the chill factor from the "elevated" speeds attained, the front face of the mirrors and the periphery of air intakes in the front bumper had sprouted 10mm long icicles. The GT2 needs plenty of wheel time to learn properly, once learnt, they're a real fun car.
