Suspected cause

If you work in an at-risk sector, and/or have a large mortgage/other debts then this is probably the last period when you can move large assets for decent(ish) money.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I see that 911 virgin, which usually have few in any 996s in stock barring the odd turbo have no less than 7 listed. Is this an indication that the 996 is now getting the positive attention it deserves?

POST 2Original post

Possibly, or it could be people trying to offload them before the engines blow up. More for sale does not show confidence in them to me. Perhaps prices have crept up and people want to move up to a 997 if the price difference is less than it used to be. There are certainly a number of reasons why it could be the case that they have more for sale, but it don't see how an increase in the number of people wanting to get rid of them can be seen as positive attention. MC

POST 3Original post

I always wondered why most 993 drives don't use theirs  Would've thought an operation like 911 virgin would off load any trade-ins they didn't see as a desireable Porsche :dont know:

POST 4Original post

I think there may be a general move to offload second cars now ahead of the economic turbulence that we have coming up- the market is likely to contract next year, and values will be down. Best to get out of a soon to depreciate asset, basically.

POST 6Original post

I think the gap between 996 and 997.1 prices narrowing so much has probably pushed quite a few 996 owners into selling and moving on to the 997. It'll be interesting to see what happens to 997 prices over the next few years.

POST 7Original post

Sadly I suspect this may be a factor in the softening of the market in general. Working with 'city' organisations, many are anticipating choppy waters. Not sure whether that is why 911Virgin has lots of 996s listed...... Here's hoping that the choppy waters dont arrive...

POST 8Original post

This is hardly a contentious view now - house prices are dropping, values of cars are dropping, investment in the UK is stalled, for e.g. BMW is moving production to the Netherlands and that will be followed by the other manufacturers. If you work in an at-risk sector, and/or have a large mortgage/other debts then this is probably the last period when you can move large assets for decent(ish) money.

POST 9Original post

Interesting views all. Being a person that keeps a close eye on what is shifting quickly these days, I would hazard a guess that they are stocking up on 996s as they are the 'cheaper' end of the 911 market, so are shifting way quicker than the more expensive cars. I'd say it's a canny move by 911Virgin. Just stocking what is currently selling really.....

POST 10Original post

It's because 993's have never been seen from October until March  :thumb:

POST 14Original post

My opinion is that your view is laughable. Why on earth would a big successful Indy start stocking 996's just as others are? To lose money, take up valuable storage space and lose sales reputations?

POST 15Original post

That mag article was in Jan of this year. A bits changed since then so I have to agree with Dammit to be honest. I think they know there taking a gamble and hoping everything is stable and comes out better than expected so they have stock. Don't get me wrong I hope you are right however I think your pretty blinkered if you don't believe that the market has slowed down in the last 6months to a year on 911's/ nice older cars due to current political issues. Too much uncertainty.
