Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use littelfuse add-a-circuit fuseholder' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use littelfuse add-a-circuit fuseholder' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm going to tap my Valentine1 this week. I saw the articles and one guy wrapped the wire around a fuse. I prefer to just clamp and tap into the power.
Can someone tell me where I can find a wire that is 12V Ignition-On?
Here is what I found in my fuse box:

SW 12 are switched circuits. With different options, your fusebox will be populated differently....
There should be a diagram showing all the fuse locations (even if they are empty) on a sheet in the fuse box. Pick an accessory that is not on your car, but is switched with the ignition (like a rear wiper, for instance). That location is the place to go. There are adapters for sale at most part houses that plug into the fuse and provide a pigtail and a fuse.

Added my V1 by using the paper fuse diagram. Used a Littelfuse Add-A-Circuit Fuseholder. Do a web search for this and you will find the picture. There are some very helpful write-ups to guide you, with excellent hints.
So I plug that thing into a 12V ignition on fuse box location, the V1 red plug goes into the top where the 5's are. But where does that blue end go to?
Does the
homelink
have a 12 switched circuit? I think it should, but I was playing around with my multi-meter and I couldn't get a reliable read on it.
The 987 uses a
Can Bus
system, most the fuses are powering relays which are then in turn activating the accessory. That makes finding a tap that is ignition-based live is difficult to do.
However the C-6 Fuse on the panel is one of the few you can piggy back onto and will give you want you want, switched power-on. Its in third row from the top of four rows total, ROW C, position 6 from the left.

Speaking of this - any idea why
porsche
thinks it's a good idea to have the outlets (cigarette lighters) be permanently on ? I suppose that mean if I forget to unplug something I'll find the battery dead when I come back ? (or is there something like a 1h timeout maybe ?)
Most
Can Bus
systems like what is on the 987 have a timer delay on them. Typically they will keep the accessory 'live' for anywhere from 30 to 60 seconds after the key is pulled.
I think it's more than 60s - 60s would be good or even a few minutes - at least the loaner cayenne I got seems to stay on forever because my escort turns off and doesn't turn back on until I unplug/replug (or I suppose I could press the power button but it's not reachable easily)
This photo was immensely helpful in my radar detector hard-wiring today. This is a much better solution than having to add a fuse tap. Thank you! Someone please add this to the radar detector install article!
