Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hello all, I have a 2008 CS with Bi-xenon's. My brother has a 2007 CS with Bi-xenon's also. He tells me when he turns his lights on sometimes the xenon would auto level, like it does a test to make sure the leveling is working correct. I haven't seen mine do that yet. Did bi-xenon's change in the 2008 model? thanks Rob

POST 2Original post

AFAIK, they've always done auto-leveling. Is it possible you parked on an incline during the daytime (didn't have your lights on) but then it was dark when you started up the car again? That is what I've noticed happening to me.

POST 3Original post

I have found that it all depends on what is in front of the car when the headlights are turned on. A wall about 10 feet away from the front bumper shows the headlights auto level very clearly. Something like a grass hill or just empty parking lot will not show the level of the headlights change although they will. Hope that makes sense.

POST 4Original post

"Level" isn't quite the right word. The headlights do not adjust for the angle of the car relative to the earth, but the angle of the body relative to the wheels. So, if you have a heavy load in the front or rear, or when accelerating hard, they should adjust. It's required by law in the EU for xenon headlights. Probably ends up doing very little on our cars.

POST 5Original post

What you may be seeing is a self test of the leveling system. IIRC if the lights are turned on and then the key is turned to on the lights will dip all the way down and then come back up to normal alignment. It's in the manual. just couldn't resist.

POST 6Original post

Yea thats the selftest i was trying to get =).Tested n it works. Guess i should read the manual next time hehe =). Thanks
