It’s nice to have a proper sports car again - took a few years off 911s whilst the little one came along & grew up a bit - now 4 so probably the optimal height to fit in the back 😂

Well a friend of mine had a roof tile land on the bonnet of her 3 month old fiat 500 and for reasons I didnt quite grasp didnt want to involve insurance so took it to her local repair outfit.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all I collected a 992 from an OPC a couple of weeks ago. Having taken it to my usual detailer to discuss paint protection options etc he pointed out that it was pretty evident that the front bonnet had had a poor quality paint respray. (Dull / hazy reflection on that panel vs all others). As soon as he pointed it out it was v clear to me as well. Ive dropped it into the OPC this morning for something else to be fixed & have said I expect them to rectify the poor paint job - their initial view was it had not been done by them, though was still up to Porsche approved standard as no stone chips / same colour ...(!) Does anyone have experience with OPC around this? My expectation is that they should respray the bonnet at a minimum at a Porsche approved bodyshop Im still within 14 day window on Porsche PCP so other option is to just cancel my agreement & hand the car back to them. Anybody have experience with this too? Thanks NC

POST 2Original post

14 day PCP withdrawl is a thing, however it doesn't cancel the purchase, you will just have to fund the car an alternative way.

Yeah had thought about that - though assume its VWFS that now owns the car / purchase from the dealer - so under cancellation of agreement: "You have five days starting the day after you have received this notice. You can use the form provided. If you cancel the agreement, any money you have paid, goods given in part exchange (or their value) must be returned to you. You will not have to make any further payment. If you already have any goods under the agreement, you should not use them and should keep them safe. (Legal action may be taken against you if you do not take proper cate of them.) You can wait for them to be collected from you and you do not need to hand them over unless you have received a written request"...

anonymous said: [redacted] Incorrect that ive been ok with it for 2 weeks ... I picked the car up 2 weeks ago, put it in the garage whilst travelling with work for a week & had the detailer round 1 week ago as wanted to have coating / protection applied to it & raised the issue with OPC at that point. In any event, the OPC has had their detailer & body repairers look at it this morning & have agreed its not up to the standard they expect (prior owners must have had it done on the cheap somewhere) & have agreed to carry out the respray. Thank you for your helpful insight...

Stranger still that someone who buys a new 992 gets it repaired on the cheap, I’d have a few alarm bells ringing. Pleased that the OPC have agreed to do what they should’ve done before retailing the car, that famous 111 point dealer inspection should’ve picked up the flaw.

I'm eagerly awaiting the next thread from the OP, "how do I reject a car I've just found out had an accident"

Most likely 3 years on pcp & trading in - typical stone chips on the bonnet & not wanting to get hit for the full Porsche approved respray cost. Overall I think a fair outcome - as you have said it should have been picked up in the 111 check. If buying from an OPC I expect it to be up to a certain standard (as the last 4 I’ve had have been) & by their own admission they’ve said it wasn’t up to standard. That said, lesson learnt that closer inspection needed next time & will take detailer along with me. Lots of inconvenience but dealt with professionally so overall good customer service

Lots of inconvenience but dealt with professionally so overall good customer service The main thing is you’re happy with the outcome, I just find the idea of painting the bonnet a bit odd. If it was stone chips then to paint the whole panel they must’ve been pretty bad (I’ve had great results with chips away etc), to the point where you’d surely have paint the bumper as well? Anyway non of my business and enjoy the car, they’re a cracking drive and ownership proposition, I’ve had seven so far!!!

There was a time when OPCs painted the front end of all second hand cars. Obviously not all body shops are the same and quality varies.
