Currenlty they are running 25% cashback and can stack with 10-15% ebay/paypal coupons.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Escort typically doesn't do group buys, but I don't see why they wouldn't add this product to the list that our members can get at a discount through the certified suppliers. The next time I speak with them I will ask as we have some other items coming from them shortly.
I didn't get a call back from Escort today, hopefully tomorrow, but I think the ONLY way they would consider doing this is if everyone purchased through one of the dealer resellers in question and that maybe (and it is a maybe) if a certain minimum number sold were guaranteed that Escort could give the resller some additional savings which could be passed on to the buyers. The problem is that even if they did that, they couldn't/wouldn't advertise how much of a savings it would be, the best they could do would be "10 buyers = additional savings, 20 buyers = additional savings" etc. but you wouldn't know how much until you actually placed your order. They might also have to wait until all orders were placed to guarantee the numbers before shipping, etc. Lots of hurdles to overcome with such an idea on this one.
Start a list?
Ken,
Been searching all over for best price on existing 9500i, doesn't seem to be much difference anywhere. Probably same for 9500ix.
Although it is a royal pain, maybe start a list of members who would buy (regardless of discount level) and their preferred dealership? So...

9500i was supposed to upgraeadable... still waiting here. I assume 9500i and 9500ix are the same except for firmware. Lets see if Escort comes through.
Last year when there was a group buy on the Passport 9500i, I purchased mine from The Exchange, in Illinois. I called today to see if they were going to do the same for the 9500ix. I was told they might do the same because they sold a lot of the 9500i units. Will keep you updated.
RobMason,
I've read some posts comparing the diff btwn Valentine and Escort Passports. Do you think that the new 9500iX now makes it equal or better than Valentine's? Has anyone ever been able to do a group buy for the Valentine? I'm looking to get one soon, so I've been reading up on this stuff a little bit, it strikes me (not 100% educated on the issue) that the Valentine's seem to be judged superior. What's your take?

If anyone is interested, get a Windows Live account and purcahse it off of authorized Escort dealers on EBAY. Currenlty they are running 25% cashback and can stack with 10-15% ebay/paypal coupons. I ended up gettting for for 325 which is a killer deal. By the way, this works for other stuff on ebay as well.
Once I get it, I just need to figure out how to hardwire this. It's a bit odd that I haven't found the instructions to do so. I did find quite a few for Valentine.
That's just for anyone who wants to get a discounted price on the 9500ix. I believe they are usually msrp and firm at it too.
Right now there is a way to get quite a few bucks off...at the minimum it's 25% off.
Yeah, I am talking about hardwiring the power so I won't have the wire hanging off the dashboard.
It's easy to upgrade a 9500i to the ix - just send it back to escort and for a fee they'll upgrade and send it back.Had mine done couple of months ago.
Wow...I gotta try that this. Thanks.
But I see that it has an update "9500i Software Update Version 1.0". It doesn't seem to be an upgrade for 9500i to 9500ix. I could be wrong. Can anyone confirm?
Ok, after browsing on the escort website a bit, YES you do need to send in the 9500i to upgrade to 9500ix (
http://www.escortradar.com/9500iupgrade/
). Not sure how much it costs though, will call tomorrow.
Apparently you need more than just software/firmware changes, you need hardware changes too (e.g. more memory):
"The upgrade will include:
-- Replace the PASSPORT 9500i case with the PASSPORT 9500ix case
-- Hardware and software changes
-- More memory will be added to allow for the extensive nationwide database of fixed speed cameras and red-light cameras
-- Save your existing Marked Locations and merging them with the most recent Location Database update
-- PASSPORT 9500ix owners manual
-- Free Return Shipping
-- A Free 3 year Location Database Subscription so you can keep current with monthly updates ($29.95 value)"
Looking at all the things they have to do to your 9500i, Escort might as well mail you a new 9500ix.
Hi all,
Not really educated on the topic but interested in adding a custom installed to my Cayman. I was looking at the Passport 9500 ci. Does anybody know how intrusive the istallation is?. Does it involve drilling holes on the dashboard or anything of the sort.? I'm concern the installation may reduce resale value later on.
Thanks !
Have you looked at the 9500i + ZR3 installation article in our Articles section? That will give you some idea as to how it can be done. I'm pretty sure a good shop should be able to do it without drilling your dash or anything that would leave permanent scars...
Those are pretty small, I bet you can find places for them without any drilling, top of the steering column for one and you can wire around that with no problems. Let us know what you do and if you have one installed, document the whole thing with pics and do an article!
