Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does the rust warranty on the car transfer to any new owners for the 10 year span? Would the rust warranty cover rusted lug bolts? I assume they aren't part of the body and therefore wouldn't, but I'm not sure. My front lug bolts on both sides are a rusted for some reason and sort of an eyesore (no problems with the rear ones). I have the 18" turbo twists on my car if that makes any difference in what size/type I need. If you don't believe it would be covered then where is the cheapest place to get some new ones?

POST 2Original post

The rust warranty does not cover lugs. They are covered within the normal 4/50 warranty.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Rats. Ideas on where to get some for a good price? Would be nice if I could find ones that won't rust so easyily.

POST 4Original post

I've discovered a couple of rust spots under the paint below my passenger side engine vent. Can I get this fixed under the 10 year rust warranty? I'm the third or fourth owner.

POST 5Original post

Check the warranty language. I THINK this covers rust through and not just rust spots. Let us know what you find out!

POST 6Original post

Rusty wheel bolts are common. Porsche was replacing them under the 4 year warranty. There are 3 wheel bolts that have been used. The part numbers end in 00, 01, and 02. 00 was the first version. I assume 01 is less prone to rust. 02 started in 2004 and is used on the new Boxster. The bolt head is smaller on 02 so you are not supposed to mix them with 00 or 01 bolts on the same wheel do to weight reasons. Some guys just remove the rust and paint them. I bought some when I removed the locking bolts and they were less than $6. Rust below the vents and door strike also can happen.

POST 7Original post

"Some guys just remove the rust and paint them." This is what I would do if I had a free afternoon. Good rust oleum job and problem solved!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If I paint them or something wouldn't it just rub off when I put them back on?

POST 9Original post

I THINK you can get some forms of rust oleum that will work. I believe the originals have a coating on them which obviously didn't work very well. You might try wire brushing off one lug and see what it looks like?
