This allows you to sit inside and IMMEDIATELY use the power-windows, no need to put the key into ignition first.

I have a 996 RemoteTop Module that was never installed before I traded the car in.
Module sells for $320. and allows you to operate cab top and windows from your key chain.
RemoteTOP for 996 Porsche Carrera
Product Features: The remoteTOP controller will give you a lot of extra comfort in and around your Porsche. The original idea was to give the U.S. 996 convertibles the ability to operate the soft-top via the factory-supplied key remote in the same way that the Euro models do. The end result completely overshoots this goal by adding seveal other features into this small but versatile controller.
In short, you will have these new features, once the product is installed:
996 Cab: Operate the soft-top with your original factory-supplied remote-key(s), no reprogramming of the key(s) or the car necessary. A Selectable One-Touch operation will, once started, complete the soft-top cycle automatically by itself.
996 Coupe: Operate the windows (and sunroof on 996 Coupe) with the original factory-supplied remote-key(s), no reprogramming of the key(s) or the car necessary. A Selectable One-Touch operation will, once started, close the windows (and sunroof) or open the windows automatically by itself.
996 Cab: Selectable "Always-Arm" Mode, which will enable the passenger cabin ultra-sound motion detector alarm when the soft-top is OPEN.
All vehicles: Selectable Lock-In feature locks the doors once you start the vehicle or start moving. In contrast to the original Porsche Lock-In feature which can only be enabled or disabled at the dealership, our controller lets you decide if you want that feature, and even better, it also UNLOCKS the doors when you switch the engine off. A detail the Porsche engineers seemingly forgot.
