Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

How easy is it to replace tips on a standard muffler? I have 99 996 with standard muffler no mods. I want to put these new tips on. Is it easy? Just unscrew the old ones and put these on? http://www.ebay.com/itm/261340265847...84.m1423.l2649

POST 2Original post

No, that is a straight through connection, your exhaust tip has a 90 degree turned up section.

I found this, a little more angle but nothing like the picture http://www.ebay.com/itm/200980972795...84.m1423.l2649

Nope still won't work. Poke your head under your car and look at the tips and the muffler. You see what we are talking about. The biggest head ache will be the dreaded clamps. I went to some Techart tip and tossed my clamps out and got some fabspeed spring clamps. Much easier to use.

Do an eBay search for "Porsche 996 Exhaust Tips" and you'll see what the OEM tips look like. The style of replacement tip you're looking for would be something along the lines of the attached (apologies to whoever's pic this is).

POST 6Original post

Going a cheaper route that will require a lot of modification will just end up being more expensive than getting Fabspeed tips off the start. They are fairly priced and I offer discounts for forum members.
