After all the reading of this forum, i tinkered and tried fading front and back, adjusted the bass setting, treble, AP, Surround... I finally found the best setting for the bose stereo (in cd mode). Here it is: Leave audiopilot off, surround off. Both distorted the sound and exaggerate the bass. Keep Bass and Treble at Zero and keep the fader at zero. The stereo sounds so much better. I listen to rock, alternative, and hip hop and it all sounds good. Not too boomy and very clear. I was getting really depressed when i tried every different recommended setting. The system actually sounds very good and i am a bit of an audiophile. I normally get aftermarket systems (love mb quarts and my old audio art amps) but i think this system can stay. Im still having a rough time with the radio settings but atleast its starting to come together.

Oh, that's quite a lot of tinkering. I believe the perfect setting for the Bose stereo on my CS is adjusting the volume to level 0.

I agree that stuffing the sub helps ! For anyone wanting to do this it is much easier if you remove the speaker itself from the housing (vs removing the port opening) and stuff the polyfill in. When its all packed in then simply replace the speaker.

how do you get the trim piece off the subwoofer. Do i just pull it? im afraid to break something plastic that i cant see.

Check the articles section. There's one that stuffs the sub for better sound and at least one of the audio articles removed it for some work. Don't recall which one. I haven't tried stuffing yet since I seemed to have been able to tame the one note boom with the tone controls well enough for my purposes anyway. The car is loud enough that I'm another that tends to use the off switch as the best setting. And last IIRC there's a hidden screw that needs to be removed to get the trim off. Just pulling is a very last resort in my experience. Usually end up buying something...
