Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have a 2007 987.1 Boxster S that I'm wanting to replace the stock wheels/tires with another set I have previously used on my 911 996 997, my 928S, and 928S4. Here is my desired replacement setup: 18" Porsche Carrera IV wheels and Yokohama tires of the following sizes: Front: 8 x 18 et57 235 40 r18 Rear: 10.5 x 18 et60 265 40 r18 Recent research seems to indicate they may interfere with the shocks. I'm hoping someone on the forum has either direct experience with these wheels or knows how to work a fitment calculation to determine if I can use the setup above on my Boxster S ? If a spacer is required, what dimension, and do the fenders need to be rolled to make it fit? Any preferred source for the spacers? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Gil

POST 2Original post

Ok, how close to the fender lip do you want to be, especailly with OEM camber? That is the trick, to get a competition alignment done with -1.6 f and -2.1 camber in the rear. Many people think that will cause your inside tire shoulders to wear, but I have found that my Michelins PS 235/40/18 f and 265/40/18 r tires got to 19k before I replaced them with Michelins 4S's 255/35/18 f and 275/35/18 r do to lack of grip, not shoulder wear. That said, I use 18 mm spacers f and 23 mm on the rear with OEM offsets of 57x8 inch f and 43x9 inch rear with the camber above. My track wheels are 9 inch in f with a 47 offset and 10 inch in rear with a 35 offset. I use a 10 mm spacer on the rear with this setup with RE71R's 255/35/18 f and275/35/18 r. My competition and OEM wheels/tires are tucked inside the wheels wells by more camber now, -2.7 f and -2.5 r. The look is up to you and how aggressive you want to be. Lowering the car (reduces fender/wheel gap) and camber (allows the tires to tuck inside of the top of the fender lips) are two keys to making this look work. View attachment 203683
