So much so that one customer who decided to use the factory plastic fasteners instead of the well nuts we provide ran over the splitter at 175MPH when the push pins pulled out of the bumper.

The GT3 guys were trying to hold the cup lips in place with two sided tape between the lip and the bumper as well as running black electrical tape on the seam between the bumper and lip in an attempt to hold them in place to avoid separation from the bumper.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Finally managed to test fit the 987.1 Boxster chin spoiler/splitter on an actual car and not just my loose bumper. I have had this piece completed since May and it has taken until now to find a car for the last test fit. The fit is amazing and installation simple. It does require drilling holes (3/8" dia x 7) in the bottom (underside) of the bumper for attachment. I do not use the plastic expanding push pins as we have found they don't hold up well to the extra downforce created by my splitters. The splitter comes supplied with well nuts and screws for attachment. This is a three piece sectional splitter designed along the lines of my very popular 996 GT3 splitter. The one piece GT3 splitter design is now 7 years old and still doing well. It creates a lot more downforce than the factory cup lips. So much so that one customer who decided to use the factory plastic fasteners instead of the well nuts we provide ran over the splitter at 175MPH when the push pins pulled out of the bumper. Why 3 pieces....shipping cost primarily. UPS charges have decreased by about a hundred dollars as we can now package this splitter in a much smaller box. Splitters as you know are pretty well a consumable item. An added benefit is if the splitter is damaged only that portion needs replacing. Why fiberglass.... RIGIDITY. The one drawback we have found with the flexible urethane splitters on the track is exactly that FLEX. At speed those splitters will flex and even curl under the car. Not great for downforce at speed when you need it.They look great at 50mph but by 90 they are moving. The GT3 guys were trying to hold the cup lips in place with two sided tape between the lip and the bumper as well as running black electrical tape on the seam between the bumper and lip in an attempt to hold them in place to avoid separation from the bumper. These are now ready for sale. As an introductory price I will offer them at 235 USD shipping included in the US lower 48 and Canada. International customers please contact me with a postal code and I will get shipping costs. Dive planes are also available for the 987.1 Boxster
