Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Reported cause
Took the old battery back, had it tested just to be sure it was the battery.
Leading evidence: 'battery' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'battery' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check alternator while you're at it' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I replaced my 6 year old OEM with an interstate last year, no complaints.

I recently replaced the Voltage Regulator on my alternator (and the alternator cable) and it made a huge difference.

I'd also recommend checking your alternator while you're at it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I forgot that I had popped the trunk yesterday morning and late in the day I went to start my car and click, click, click. Dead battery.
Pretty disappointing since I've only owned the car a 48 hrs. A little surprising.
Regardless, I ordered and Battery Tender Plus. I hope to back in action by Friday.
Seems like the battery shouldn't have died so quickly with so little load on it. You might want to get the battery and charging system checked out. I recently replaced the Voltage Regulator on my alternator (and the alternator cable) and it made a huge difference.
Also you may want to replace your bulbs with LEDs. They use so little power.
I went with an AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery from Autozone for my last battery based upon what I read on this forum. People on the forum also talk about Interstate batteries and Walmart batteries as well. Some, but very few, go with an OEM.
I think the Optima is a popular choice for a higher dollar battery as well.
Maybe you can, but my experience is that once drained like that, and with a bit of life on it, the hope of returning it to its full glory is slim. Also, dead and weak batteries play haven on the systems in our cars. If it is not a daily driver, keep searching for a battery at the usual places. if it is a daily, then the $250 is a small price to pay.
I charged my battery overnight. It's reading 12volts, so I'm thinking I probably do need a new battery.
However, I notice that there is an interior ambient light that remains on as well as dash odometer and time. Is that normal? Seems like a drain?
Ok. I've researched and learned the ambient light goes out when I lock the car. It stays on for 2-2.5hrs if car is left unlocked.
Volt meter reads 12volt before starting and jumps to 14+ volts after starting.
My AutoZone battery was dying a slow death a few weeks ago, until finally it wouldn't start while in a parking lot after lunch. Got a jump start from a kind stranger then drove straight to AutoZone. Left the car running while I ran in and bought a new battery. Went straight home and swapped it out. $170.00. Took the old battery back, had it tested just to be sure it was the battery. It was, plus got a $20 credit for the core.
It ain't rocket science.
Buy a $7 harbor freight battery tender
Or an expensive Porsche one
My battery would drain if it sat for a week or two.
My race car sits for a month or more at a time,
Would have battery problems all weekend.
After battery tender, no problems at all.
Would even start on its own after sitting a month.
Yeah they are Porsches, but when you have a handful you have to look at saving $$ when you can.
A new battery is a nice dinner out.
One for each car is a mortgage payment
Or a set of track tires :-)
I'll go with the battery tenders :-)

I'd also check out Costco if you have a membership already. The warranty is hard to beat.
I'd also recommend checking your alternator while you're at it.
