I ordered them painted as his price is a heck of a lot cheaper than any of the local shops I checked with.

I have the old PRogers side vents, rear wing and splitters installed on my '07S.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Morning all,
Popping my first post cherry here after a bit of lurking... I'm now the proud owner of a
Cayman S
987.1
and of course immediately have started to mess with it and change bits.
One of the items I really liked were the old Motor-Lux / PRogers side vents, but after reading about the whole debacle with unfulfilled orders and people loosing money I am being fairly cautious about the whole thing.
However; I have now found a suspiciously similar looking item on
Amazon
!
https://www.amazon.com/Carbon-Porsc...automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1493123018&sr=1-29-spons&keywords=cayman+side+vent&psc=1
EPR International don't look like they have the best feedback (PRogers, maybe?), but with the purchase protection that Amazon offers it may be worth a punt...
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Jimbo
Interesting to say the least. I don't know why but I thought somebody bought the mold to this and was working on improving the install. I can't seem to find the link though. Maybe somebody else can confirm.
Good luck!
I saw your posting and thought I would send you some pictures of the GT4 style side scoops we offer to your Cayman. They are priced at $429 plus freight and come with full instructions for mounting. These require no disassembly to install and are held in place with 24 sq in of 3M molding tape. Very professional and are running on track and street cars around the world. Feel free to call of email me to discuss further.

In addition to Jon May's GT4 style side scoops, the company that bought the molds from Prodgers was PDP Composites, they are a sponsor of this site and still make an newer and improved version of the prior side scoops.

Hi Jimbo,
First congratulations on a great looking
Cayman S
!
This is Dave from pdpcomposites and we are making the Side Vents PRodgers was selling. It was unfortunate what happened at that time but I can assure you there are no problems since we took over. The Side Vents are available in 4 finish options, scuff and paint, polished black gelcoat or two styles of carbon fiber. Prices range from $525.00 to $995.00 plus shipping. No modifications required to the car as it attaches inside using OEM mount
points
.
Besides the Side Vents we also sell a Rear Spoiler and Front Splitters for your car if you are interested.

Thanks to both Jon and Dave for getting back to me. Gives me something to work on!
Just a thought: It would probably be a useful addition to the "Whatever happened to Motor-Lux?" thread to have both your details added along with a little info on the current situation, as many of the '
cayman
side vent' type searches I did on Google lead to Motor-Lux and then on to that thread.
Thanks again,
Jimbo.
Just a guess but looking at the delivery time and the cheap price for the vents listed on
Amazon
, I'd say the company isn't based in the US. I really haven't seen quality carbon fiber that cheap.
With that said, I actually have the splitters on order from Dave at Precision Design Plastics. I didn't realize he also has the mold for the side vents as well. I have to say, my dealings with Dave thus far and been nothing short of fantastic. When I first contacted him, he was still working out some of the details and he kept me updated every step of the way. Luckily he's ahead a schedule and I should be getting the splitters this coming week. Can't wait!

In the details it says they come from China. But it sure looks like a PRodgers knock-off. They also sell many other carbon fiber accessories for many auto makes. So it isn't a garage operation.
You are welcome Jimbo and I also looked at the parts in the
Amazon
link and yes, they are knock-offs of our parts and like RSchwerer stated made in China. I guess we are now a victim of cheap China copies and I don’t think there is much we can do about it. All of our parts are and have always been proudly made at our facility in Washington State USA.
Hi Moto, I’m looking forward to seeing photos of the Splitters mounted on your car.
Dave
Just a teaser of the splitter I just received from Dave @ Precision Design Plastics. The fitment looks to be spot on. The lighting isn't all the great but will hopefully get better pics after the install!
-Moto
Just as a non affiliated "
plug
", I'm running the PDP sides and love them. Looks a thousand times better than the
GT4
imitations or anything else available. Good quality, fit and finish.

Thanks Mlevere1992. So I believe Dave is offering these in black gel, carbon fiber, carbon fiber leading edge/painted, and painted. I ordered them painted as his price is a heck of a lot cheaper than any of the local shops I checked with. I actually just finished the install yesterday and I hope to post pics/review in a new thread soon. I'd hit him up via PM or directly. His info is in one of the previous post. Super nice guy to work with. Apparently a workaholic....so I've heard... LOL

Hi Mlevere1992,
The Side Vents are available in 4 finish options, scuff and paint, polished black gelcoat or two styles of carbon fiber, a Plain weave and Twill weave (2x2). Prices range from $525.00 to $995.00 plus shipping. No modifications required to the car as it attaches inside using OEM mount
points
.
Splitters are available in 4 finish options, scuff and paint, polished black gelcoat and the same two styles of carbon fiber in a leading edge/paint to match mix. Prices range from $475.00 to $995.00 plus shipping. If you email me direct at
[email removed]
I will send photos showing how the leading edge looks. For mounting one hole is required in each wheel well opening but otherwise uses the OEM Splitter mounting points. We do not provide the temporary mounting as shown in the photo Moto posted above…
Custom paint is available for customers in the US and quotes are provided on request. Typically to paint a set of Splitters, Side Vents or Rear Spoiler runs around $250.00 to $310.00 if painted individually and slightly more to paint 2 or more parts.
We offer a 5% discount if you by two or more products at one time or 5% off additional parts purchased at a later time (not applicable on painting).

Thanks for the Splitter photos you sent Moto
I posted a review of the splitters here:

We are at the

Parade this week so if you would like to see the Side Vents installed call or text me at [phone removed]
We also have a carbon fiber Rear Spoiler and black Splitters on the car.
Dave
I have the old PRogers side vents, rear wing and splitters installed on my '07S. I've been very happy with them, ordering issues aside.
If PDP Composites is using the molds, they'll look fantastic and make any car look meaner and more purposeful. Sad to hear about there being Chinese knockoffs out there. Disgusting.
Hi Lobaeux,
Yes we do own the molds and are making these parts. Our mounting design requires no modifications to your car and uses OEM holes located under the original Grille's. Here is a link to a recent review

I have the old PRogers side vents also, but over time the rather artisanal installation method has proven unreliable. I contacted Dave who has been fantastic. On his suggestion, I have sent him my old vents, minus the neoprene trim, mesh and half a pound of silicone, which he will modify and adapt to his mounting frames. So far, communication has been excellent. I look forward to getting my side vents back, installed and solidly mounted. I took a good look at Jon May's
GT4
style scoops and while they look nice, they seem, to my taste, not in keeping with the
987.2
design; the PRogers/Fluid987 design is still the best in that regard.
Hi Singletrack,
It looks like the Side Vents should arrive Wednesday. We have everything ready for the first Retro-Fit of the Fluid987 parts and I will keep you posted.
For others who have the Fluid987 Side Vents and are not happy with how the mounting holds your parts in place we are looking at this modification. Singletrack will be the "test subject", OK not really a "test subject" but the first to have this installed as we know it will work. Once his is complete we will offer to others as well. I won't have a firm cost until this first set is completed. I will also explain what is involved and what to expect from this modification.

Do you have a line of products for the
boxster
as well or only the
cayman
? Not sure how they would even look on a
Boxster
but thought I'd check as I don't like the color of my intakes and this could be a new solution to that.
Hi gtbrandon,
The Side Vents will fit a
Boxster
from 05-12 with no modifications required to your car for installation. Our Rear Spoiler will also fit the same years by using the
Cayman
OEM Spoiler underside piece. We offer the following finish options: For Painting, Black high polish, Plain Weave carbon fiber, Twill Weave carbon fiber. In the USA we can also paint to a color code. Prices range from $525.00 to $995.00.
