Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You'll need a garage to check your MAF as they'll need to plug in the diagnostic computer, re the plenum, i'll try and dig out a thread and post, but essentially remove the big pipe connecting the air filter and have a look inside to see if it has the carbon build up.

You can buy the cleaning alcohol at Maplin if that helps.

Thanks GT4, just one thought, dont shoot me down in flames, however, I filled her up with std unleaded, could this cause these probs or is it ok to run these cars on normal std fuel?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just come back from a nice drive, cars a dream drives like a dream acclerates well, goes very well, fast.. came home, hit some lights, sat at the lights and i noticed the tickover was wavering between 400 and 1000 revs, sort of going low, then revving up, then going low then revving up? most weird, any ideas what this could be ? do these cars have main air flow sensors that can be a problem, the cars donw 121k and had a major service at porsche at 119k ..
thanks

Just remind me what it says in the inside of the petrol flap?
The lower octane may make the ECU more sensitive to a dirty MAF as it will have advanced the ignition to mitigate pinking and engine overheating.
The engine will run fine (if not be the happiest and certainly with loss of power) with 95 RON.
Hi
You can buy the cleaning alcohol at Maplin if that helps. Also I have had 3 cars before (not porsche) that used to rev up and down in the manner you describe if they were low on water.
Berni
just been to my local maplins they had no ipa in stock ! so i drove to a motor factors whom reccomended contact cleaner by Comma
do you think this will be ok ?
says on side of tin
Fast acting formula , just spray on .Instantly removes oxidation and immdiately restores the electrical current.Non corrosive properties wont harm plastics , non conductive with no residue,no need to wipe away excess.
Just been on blower to Comma and there techy guys who told me yes it contains 10-30% IPA and pointed me towards this contents page which states the contents as :-
