When I first took it to local p-car mechanic, he advised not to use the K&N - just keep it stock.

Yeah, one of the first things I did on mine was remove the K&N air filter that the prior owner added. I've got my lightly used one in a box in my basement. You can have it for shipping cost.

have had my '04 C2 Cab for a year now. When I first took it to local p-car mechanic, he advised not to use the K&N - just keep it stock. Took his advice & used $$ towards Row suspension upgrade instead. at base/stock level these are great driving machines. not much to do to increase performance/hp w/o some $$. my $.02 - drive it, as is, for awhile and then figure out how you want to enhance your driving experience.
