Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Pagid RS29 or RS4 pads will work well with standard discs, but RS4's are generally more suited to track use (when used on road, they squeel a little at low speeds)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi....I an rebuilding the front brakes on my car... The question is the Anti-Rattle shims, when i removed the pads the shims were stuck to them and i had to break the seal from the pad to the shim. Has anyone fitted new pads with the shims and what did you do with regards to sticking the shims to the pads when refitting. Also which performance pads work well with standard discs. Thanks Tim

POST 2Original post

Hi Tim, I replaced my standard pads and discs circa August last year. The shims come with an adhesive backing, and it's necessary to stick these to the pad, to stop them moving or slipping. From memory. I think I placed the shims in the pistons (the pots) before then offering the pads up to them, to ensure correct position. Pagid RS29 or RS4 pads will work well with standard discs, but RS4's are generally more suited to track use (when used on road, they squeel a little at low speeds)

POST 3Original post

Most performance pads work with Standard Discs These are your Pagid Options http://911uk.com/template.php?page=11 RS4-2-1 Black are the recommended 1st step up from OEM pads The issue with shims that depending on how much you use your brakes they would end up just melting and thus sticking to the pads from the heat build up, I never ram shims on my GT3 for that reason but they do serve a purpose. If you upgrade your pads then make sure you upgrade your brake fluid.
