Most of you know that I am a tall dude, so leg room is at a premium and heel and toe is a pipe dream.
I was looking at some other cars and saw an Audi with a D-shaped steering wheel.
I wonder if anyone makes something like that for CS and could fit the standard (not sport) steering wheel. I would love to have 2-3 more inches in the bottom of the steering wheel, since it would be easier to get in and out of the car AND I could heel and toe.
One thing I don't want to do is loose an air-bag or have to buy a different one. If there was someone who modifies the stock wheel, that would be my most wanted mod.
I doubt you are going to find one that will re-use the stock air bag. I know that Techart offers a wheel that can use the original air bag, but I do not believe it comes in the D shape that you desire. Might be worth a call though. Another option would be the D wheel that a number of other companies use and brand as their own. I am not sure who the actual supplier is, but I believe it is Raid. FVD uses this wheel and can be seen on their web site. I think Speed-art, Gemballa, also use a variation of this wheel. I found that Carnewal in Belgium carries this wheel, and due to the exchange rate, was a good buy. I ordered the Daytona Sport 340mm wheel with airbag and hub adaptor last week for less than $1,000. Might want to look into that as well.
Rinspeed also has one, but I'd be afraid to ask what the price is.

Of course, the flat spot at the bottom of the wheel will give you more room when you're going straight... but the moment you turn the wheel for a corner that room disappears, and if your legs are in the way it might be a problem...
