JR posted on another thread that the new gen 2 LN bearings for single row cars will be dual row and they didn't bother changing the current bearings for the MY99/00 as they are already dual row obviously.

OK, I promise this is the last time I will write about an IMS issue but I just need a point of clarification before I proceed. Engine is getting rebuilt. Have my choice of IMS bearings. 99's had the double row (with the lower failure rate - which mine failed - how lucky am I?) So my replacement option is the dual row LN ceramic bearing - which is the same cost as the single row bearing. I just need to order the double row one? The gen 2 LN bearing and the solution are designed for single row bearings, correct? Other option would be to replace with pelican bearing with spacers? Doesn't sound like a good idea. So is the case different on the 99's?

He uses a standard replacement german bearing and has rebuilt a bunch of these engines and never had a failure. He recommended driving the car, keeping the oil level good, and changing the oil every 5K. This comes with the standard rebuild. But he said he can put in whatever bearing I want (for the cost of the part).

If you decide on an LN product for a MY99 I don't believe you have a choice I think it's the dual row period. JR posted on another thread that the new gen 2 LN bearings for single row cars will be dual row and they didn't bother changing the current bearings for the MY99/00 as they are already dual row obviously. I don't believe the IMS solution is an option for the dual row cars either.

DOF solid bearing (from flat6innovation) looked good, and noticed it's for the MY starting 2000.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
