(The whole thing was recently checked by Porsche along with the gearbox and clutch and everything is perfect so it's me, not the car).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am struggling to get used to it. It seems the best way to get a smooth change is to depress the clutch all the way to the carpet before starting to move the stick. This makes gear changes quite slow. Any old hands got any tips for a good technique or is it just practise? I find 2 to 3 on hard acceleration particularly tricky. (The whole thing was recently checked by Porsche along with the gearbox and clutch and everything is perfect so it's me, not the car).

POST 2Original post

I had a short shift (B&M) fitted not too long ago and I love it, makes the car feel much tighter than before....but as the gear are going in quicker I think you need to be on the clutch quicker. 2nd to 3rd did take me awhile to get use to it as I think my throw was between 3rd and 5th and not quiet 3rd If you know what I mean. Good excuse for the gf if you need to take the car out as its all about practise

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just went out and bought a pair of Puma 'driving' shoes - the ones with a tyre-like sole. Much easier now to feel the biting point which allows me to concentrate on the lever. It has made things easier.

POST 4Original post

I have a B&M in mine and love it, feels tight until warm but the way a sports car should afterwards...

POST 5Original post
