Of course should your dealer find that the problem is actually somewhere else then we'll simply have to resort of an alien conspiracy theory to explain the problem.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hello, I am fairly new to the forum and have a technical question/problem. I have a 2008 Cayman S and the transmission refuses to go into Reverse any longer. The car only has 5000 miles and worked fine previously. It started with being difficult to get into Reverse. Now it is like the Reverse Gate has closed up and is not there. I have checked the Shifter, Cables and Linkage attachments for any obvious problems. I wanted to see if I could find an obvious issue and repair it myself with out having to make a visit to the Dealer. No obvious problems can be found. My next step was going to be Bleeding the Clutch System to look for any trapped air. I thought I would check with the Experts on this Board and see what ides everyone had. My only idea was Air in the System or maybe Loose Pressure Plate? If not this, I'm afraid it is Internal in the Gearbox. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

POST 2Original post

It is under warranty. Forget the do-it-yourself fixes.

POST 3Original post

The shift cables and linkage may look fine to you, but I'll bet two-bits to a donut this is where the problem is... if all the other gears and clutch are working fine, bleeding the clutch system will do nothing - in fact, if your brakes are working fine that's the indicator that there's no air in the system, because the brakes and clutch share the same master cylinder reservoir. Don't monkey around with it - take it into the dealer and have them fix it under the warranty that was part of the expensive price you paid for the car. brad

POST 4Original post

Hey brad, you do know that quality donuts now cost more than 50¢ in most places.....probably given away free in Las Vegas though..

POST 6Original post

Wow! 200 Visits and No Responses other than the Moderators and Long Time Members with the Overwelming need to try and School somebody that they know nothing about. I didn't ask for advice about How to fix it...only what others thought it might be. I guess no helpful responses are a response in itself. It seems I have a unique problem and will probably have to rely on the Dealer for resolution. Thanks to all.

POST 7Original post

Sorry to disappoint you with my "Overwhelming need to try and School somebody that they know nothing about." Apparently, even on this forum, you get what you pay for when asking for free diagnostics over the Internet where others can neither see, hear, or feel the symptoms. I hope you get it fixed soon. brad

POST 8Original post

I'll raise Brad's diagnosis by two donuts. Is that OK, me being a moderator and all...?

POST 9Original post

Since I'm the site admin shouldn't I pitch in too? Unlike others here I'm almost certain that when you take it to the dealer they are going to find that the reverse gear has been teleported out of the gearbox by aliens. First it was the cow dissection, now gear removal. These alien pranks are almost getting to be too much to tolerate! What's next ? Of course should your dealer find that the problem is actually somewhere else then we'll simply have to resort of an alien conspiracy theory to explain the problem. :hilarious:

POST 10Original post

I vote to keep the current cable and wrap a new 2010 CS around it:cheers:

POST 11Original post

I had my trans freeze up on my 06. I had to have it flat bedded to the dealer and it turned out that the linkage had snapped. They fixed it the next day and I was on my way. I don't know why some people on this forum use as many words to tell you why they won't tell you something as it would take for them to tell you something. I thought this was a communicative rather than a disciplinary forum. Thank you sir, may I have another?

POST 12Original post

I don't anyone was trying to discipline the OP, what was said was that his question was answered by the first two replies one briefly one in more detail but he refused to accept those answers at that point people threw up their hands and basically said "sorry can't help you then". Since I can see no further positives to come out of this topic I'm going to close it, the question has been answered and there is no need for anyone to belittle anyone else over the topic. If the OP wants to report back what the solution was then he is more than welcome to do so.
