Well, this is not a question so much, but more a share of experience.
Yesterday my car suddenly showing the engine light during a normal driving with the speed pilot on, and the display said "Check engine, visit workshop", i could not hear of feel any change in the car performance at this moment.
So i drove down to
Porsche
this morning on my way to work, at first i got a little nerve's, due to that
Porsche
has glass to their workshop so that clients can watch what they are doing, and when i took a look after browsing the new-car display room, there was 4 mechanics around the car and it was lifted up.
After about ½ hour, one of the mechanic to the care out for a drive, and was gone for about 20 min. So i expected the worst, but when he came back i got the info that the lamp was not showing anymore, there apparently are a heating system for the cat's and this has for some how make a error message, and this message can only be removed by Diag tools, and do not go away by it self, and they cannot seem to get the error back, so everything seems fine now, and hopefully it will continue on being this way.
The mechanic has checked all values before and after resetting the system, and all seems perfect.
So if any have similar experiences, please write and tell me if it came back later or never.
Thanks and have a nice day.
What kind of exhaust do you have? Some aftermarket exhausts may trigger a CEL.
Its 100% stock...
But the lamp has still not shown sincs, so i think that i just was a hickup.
My light came on last month. First trip to dealer they replaced O2 sensor. It last couple of days before the light came on again. Second time they replace both cat. So far so good....
Mine came on this morning and it turned out to be Cylinder 1 misfire, non-recurring.
They cleared it, ran the car while it was hooked up. Did not return. Unplugged it and away I went.
Has not come back after about a hundred miles of driving. Tech said that it could be weather related as this was the first cold morning start it has had in a while. Don't know if I believe that or not. But we will see.
Car was not driven for about a week. " Visit workshop " light came on right after I started the engine.Left it idling for a couple of minutes and "visit workshop " light went off. Never came on since then. Car is 100% stock.
This exact same situation happened to me yesterday. I had not driven the car for a week. When I started it, it ran a little rough and the light came on. I shut it off and turned it back on, and all was fine. I'm guessing it probably has something to do with letting the car sit for a week w/o driving it. Perhaps a little oil collects at the bottom of the cylinder when it sits for an extended period of time. I try not to let my CS become a garage queen, but I have a daily driver so it sometimes sits for a few days before I have a chance to drive it. It's an '06 but still shines like new!
