- The chase was an all 5th~6th gear/5~7,000rpm speed run on a long two lane highway with very beautiful turns, i cant call them corners really..

Less than 400lbs, 160 HP, 0-60mph in 2.8secs, 0-120mph in 8secs, and it will wheelie all they way up to 120mph with just using the throtle and in just 2 gear!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

There they come, falling from unknown skies.. a group of bikers (about 5 or 6 ranging from 900CBR's to 1100GSX-R's).. And there it started,, my first real 996 race:
THAT WAS TAKEN AT 260KM/HR WHILE BIKER'S SPEEDO SHOWED 270.. I GUESS THIS WAS HIS MAXIMUM LIMIT BUT OVERTAKING HIM WAS NOT EASY, HE WAS REALLY GOOD (THAT WAS A SHADOW 900 HONDA) GREAT EXHAUST SOUND.. RACE LASTED ABOUT 20 MINUTES (ACTUALLY I WAS AFTER THE CHICK IN THE BACK!!) OTHER BIKES COULDNT CATCH UP WITH US..
ONE OF THE BIKES WHERE WE STOPPED AFTER...
THE 996 AFTER AN EXHAUSTING RACE AND A FEW SHOWOFF DOUGHNUTS..
HEADING BACK, A GORGEOUS LADY WHO AS BEAUTIFUL AS CURRENT MISS WORLD (REMEMBER, WE STILL HOLD MISS WORLD TITLE IN NIGERIA TILL NEXT WEEK!) WAS CHEERING ME UP ALL THE WAY! THAT WAS A 300SL-24
I HOPE ALL YOU GUYS ENJOY YOUR SUNDAYS THE WAY I DID TODAY!

PICS COURTESY OF MY 8YR OLD CO-PILOT!
Hey Wael,
Just curious, during the race, was it a highspeed highway or regular roads with slower corners? cause a hi-sport bike should outrun a 996 C2 pretty easily in a highway with only fast curves. The acceleration difference is just too great for the 996 superior cornering ability to compensate. (Then again the bike had a passenger which hinders its performance and the Honda CBR900 (not Shadow which is a cruiser-custom bike) wasnt a late model either I presume from the pic of the Suzuki).
I've had the same race with a sportbike but the road had too many slower corners for the bike, so I'd end up passing the bike everytime after he would pass me when I encountered traffic.
But on the open highway I am much faster with my bike than on my 996. I guess what I call highway (autobahn type) may not be the same for each one since highway characteristics are different on each country too.
BTW, how is the Police there on speed limit enforcement? I take it no many radar detectors?
Great photos
and you expect your S02's to last after doing doughnuts
that reminds me, I'll be changing my worn-out S03's next week so...
And your 8 year old took the pics! man, by the time he is 18yrs old he'll only get a kickout of a F16 fighter jet's speed

Carlos,
I used to have a GSXR-1100 here on the same roads until I had a bad accident on my friend's VMAX in '94.. Six months of physio made me finally let go of 2 wheeled machines.. But I never lost the passion for such. Am sure i'll be riding one of those by next sunday!
To answer your questions:
- The chase was an all 5th~6th gear/5~7,000rpm speed run on a long two lane highway with very beautiful turns, i cant call them corners really.. But let met tell you why i was able to keep up with the bike, it's that the Honda (you're right they're oldies but faaaaast, not a shadow, cant remember the name!) accelarated faster till it reached a time where, at such high speeds and his higher un-anticipated weight (normally shared for other private-fun-factors if you know what i mean!) my 996 could catch up with his max speed that he reached... Then we faced, as you see in the picture, normal cars on the way, where we had to decelarate again.. this kept on for about 20 minutes! But it was the most fun and adrenalin-rush i ever had in yeaaaaaaars!!!
- Police?? Radar detectors??? Enforcement???here!!! No way Carlos, the police are very friendly here, they think i'm driving a spaceship and wait eagerly for me to pass by and even cheer me up!! They're every street racer's wet dream come true!! There is nothing as such in this country to worry about!
- Am not doing doughnuts on a regular basis, it was just to display my eccentric-manly-mean character to the bikers around... kind of marking my territory! And you should see how i was surrounded with a dozen of fans lifting me up after the show!! lol!!! i love this country!
Carlos, that reminds me, i was in south of spain this summer with the family, but willing to repeat Marbella and Puerto Banus anytime! Where you staying at?
Wael
Oh, I didnt count on the top speed of the bike being lower than the 996 (my bike's top speed is higher than the 996. You must of had a blast!
Yes, I bet they were fast, the only Honda with 900cc I can think of is the CBR900R, the fastest when it came out.
Man, I cant belive how lucky you are with the police there... incredible!
Ah, Puerto Banus... according to the car dealers association its the area with the highest concentration of luxuri-sport cars in the whole world! because its the Jet-set's vacation area.
I'm up on the northwest coast of Spain. The good part is that there is less cops with radars and great highways with less traffic
Sorry to hear about the bike accident you had. Unless something like that happens, you dont realize how dangerous and stupid it is to drive these bikes, but the pleasure and adrenaline they give makes you forget very quickly
I've lost a close friend (we used to ride our bikes together back when I wasn't even old enough to legally ride my bike on the streets), and later on lost a cousin also
Palting!
I know you love speed since you track your 996 C4S so you have to try these new 1000cc Hi-Sport bikes that are comming out. All the horses of a fuel injected 4cil 13,000RPM bike with the weight of a 600cc. They are just incredible!
They are a must just like a Porsche is a must for speed and driving-fast fans like you, the rush you can get from these is amazing. Less than 400lbs, 160 HP, 0-60mph in 2.8secs, 0-120mph in 8secs, and it will wheelie all they way up to 120mph with just using the throtle and in just 2 gear!
My bike is a 2002 model (GSX-R1000) which is already the fastest one out there and I'm already waiting to swith to the new 2003 model which is comming out in February with even less weight, more HP and SBK derived chasis
Carlos,
Thanks for the heads-up. Took me less than a year to convince my wife for the Porsche. I'll start working on her starting now for that Suzuki
