Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I'd have it fixed under warranty, but unless it's really bothering you, just hold off until you're at the dealer for something else (like your first service) and have them fix it then.

POST 1Original post

Well, new 2009 Cayman S, just shy of 5K mi. Had my first "problem" this morning on the way to work. And this is REALLY minor... Had a tail-gater, and to get the yahoo to back off, I pulled the knob on light switch to turn on the "dummy" light in back (the single rear fog light). Rear fog light turned on (guy backed off FAST) and the knob just kept right on pulling out, straight off the switch and out of the dash! Switch is fine, knob went back on, no problem - but I would think the knob should stay IN the dash, eh?!? I did not put any force into it, did not even feel a 'detente' like there was a plastic restraint tab/catch/latch it was moving past. So, anyone else pull their light knob out of the dash? Bizarre. Just ignore it, or take it to service?

POST 3Original post

Agree. An item like this is definately covered under the 4 year warrenty as this could not be considered "normal wear". I would take the car in sooner, rather than later. As the manual says, repair items left broken that cause subsequent damage to other parts may void the warrenty. A broken or misaligned switch could cause your car to inadvertantly do something improper and break a related mechanism or worse, electronic component.
