Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check ignition coils' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check ignition coils' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I haven't noticed anything out of the norm, but I'll double check once I get off work.

does the pump run (about 30-40 sec) when you first turn the car on?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I took my car, 00 C4, through a brushless car wash and the next morining these codes were triggered. I usually hand wash my car, but it was so cold and my car was so dirty that I took a chance. I read the codes, erased them and about 50 miles later they appeared again. Any ideas? thanks
car runs fine, except for the cells. Think I should check the coils for a cracked one? Up until the car wash I was cell-free. also, thanks for your response
^^^ what he said... does the pump run (about 30-40 sec) when you first turn the car on? Sounds like an annoying vacuum cleaner... then dissappears after timeout value.
I haven't noticed anything out of the norm, but I'll double check once I get off work. What exactly does the secondary air actually do, and how can it be fixed?
it is part of the emmission system... here is the wiki version
Secondary air injection (commonly air injection, colloquially smog pump, trademark Air Injection Reactor) is an automobile emissions control strategy introduced in 1966, wherein fresh air is injected into the exhaust stream. The exact mechanism by which exhaust emissions are controlled depends on the method of injection and the point at which air enters the exhaust system. The first systems injected air very close to the engine, either in the cylinder head's exhaust ports or in the exhaust manifold. These systems provided oxygen to oxidize (burn) unburned and partially-burned fuel in the exhaust before its ejection from the tailpipe. There was significant such unburned and partially-burned fuel in the exhaust of 1960s and early 1970s vehicles, and so secondary air injection significantly reduced tailpipe emissions. However, the extra heat of recombustion, particularly with an excessively rich exhaust caused by misfiring or a maladjusted carburetor, tended to damage exhaust valves and could even be seen to cause the exhaust manifold to incandesce.
Secondary air system looks like this:
Interesting that you're getting both sides triggering - that suggests a common vacuum leak issue.
Typically on these cars, you can get one or the other valves sticking as they get to this age, due to crud build up in the valves - valve replacement is then the best option.
In this case however, both sides triggering suggests a leak in the shared vacuum side, so I'd start by looking for a failed pipe or one that has become disconnected.
As this is emissions only, no issue with you driving around with the CEL on - other than the annoyance factor.
And if you leave it too long you blow the bulb in the CEL - which generates yet another code - ask me how I know!
It's the cold, not the autowash, that probably brought the issue to light.
When the ambient temp is low, the secondary air system kicks in at engine start to provide a cleaner burn through the exhaust system.
thanks fellows for all the inputs. It's good to know that I'm not gonna throw a rod or worse. I'll begin to look for the leak. When I get the big one, you all will get a brand
new GT3.
