Today as I was driving my 2009 CS PDK sport chrono on a good quality road I hit the Sport plus button and floored the gas...I then manualy changed 1st gear earlier from 5.500-6000 to 2nd gear and I then heard a wierd "HRRRRR HRRRRR HRRRR " like a metal plate "grinding" underneath me... The sound went on for 2-3 secs until i pushed the throttle again.... Now the car when in Drive mode or reverse does a "crrack crrrack crrack" sound . I do not touch the gas. I just lift my leg from the brakes....
tommorow its dealer time... I was hearing some sounds from the PDK but everyone said this is naturale.... Lets find out if its the PDK or smthing elsw....:wall:
I'll be watching this one.
C'mon admit it, you've been street racing...
the car is designed for all kind of uses....drag, circuit etc etc..... so it is unbelievable that this happend.....
Humm, that's marketing for you
Seriously LC is the equivalent to dropping the clutch on a manual, these things aren't indestructible. Yere, get it checked out ASAP.
meaning that the LC for the new cayman S PDK and all models breaks the PDK for 16.000km or almost 10.000miles on the car ? hmmmmm
I hear ya Numb, get it checked out ASAP.
will do! and if the is a problem with it....oooo their gonna see a banana alright...:banana::banana:
Although it may seem like dropping the clutch on a manual it is a bit different. The PDK clutches are wet and there is traction control. Just my opinion and a vested one.
Interested to know what the dealers say.
this is not good....keep us posted on the outcome
wt hell .... they called said they dont hear anything and the car is fine ........ hmmmm
My .02 cents worth; I am not a fan of the launch control and even with the safeguards built into the PDK it has to put tremendous torque forces on the transmission and drive-line. That said under normal and even track driving the transmission appears to be as solid as any other. I have driven my '09 C2S for over 8000 miles with no issues other than a software updrade to the PDK. Additionally I have attended two PSDS and driven PDK on the track both time, it is flawless except in manual mode when the operator fails to select a higher gear at or approaching redline (only did it once, but it was the one time that Hurley Haywood was in my right seat, so the appropriate comments were in order) I also asked the maintenance folks at the driving school about problems with the PDK and was told that in almost a year of thrashing the cars around the track daty in and day out they have not had a PDK issue. Well I'm so impressed that I have ordered a Cayman as a track car...... with PDK and this from a guy that has driven stick shift for over 50 years. The future is now enjoy. Now not to be insensitive, NumB I hope you isse is minor and software related.
LC is not that stressfull. All that
should
happen is extra wear on the clutch plates. The clutch takeup is intentionally slipped with the process being automated by the computer.
no software released for the cayman s PDK
I don't plan to use the LC on my car. But is nice to know that Porsche designed the PDK to take this type of use.
or just order a 6-speed manual
