Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have a 2005 Boxster S with 53,000 miles and the warranty ran out Feb 09. July 2008 I had my transaxle replaced under warranty due to a bad bearing. Well, 14 months later I have another bearing squeeling and I need to fix my transaxle again. I was just informed by the dealer, even though Porsche parts are warranted for 2 years, this doesn't apply to warranty parts. They are only warranted for the life of the origional car warranty. So in my case the warranty was only for 7.5 months. Just to clarify, if your engine blows and it's replaced under warranty the last week of your origional 4 year warranty, the engine will only be covered for a week. This was confirmed by Porsche of NA. I opened a case with Porsche and I'm hoping to get some restitution.

POST 3Original post

Everything is fine. My problem was miss diagnosed. The noise which sounded like a bearing squeel turned out to be a bad oil separator, I guess the sound was a vaccuum leak. I just wish my ind mechanic didn't have me replace my clutch before I took it to the dealer. Porsche said they would work with me if the transaxle was bad. Thanks for asking!
