Suggestion

I dont think it matters what temp it runs at and it only needs 10 mins each time if you are averse to running for a complete journey for some reason.

My indi has said that the seals and pipes can get stiff if the air-con never gets used but seems to think that mine are fine at the moment.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My MY2003 996 doesn't get used as much as it probably should. As a result of this the air-con gets even less use as I'm more of a 'window-down and listen to the engine' fan! I'm a bit concerned that I should be running the air-con at full blast every now and again - even if I just leave the car idling. Should I run the air-con at its hottest or its coldest - or both!? I've heard that running it hot can kill some of the bugs that can cause bad odours but should I run it as cold as it'll go too...? If so: which first, hot or cold, or doesn't it matter? My indi has said that the seals and pipes can get stiff if the air-con never gets used but seems to think that mine are fine at the moment. I just want to avoid any big unnecessary bills if I can! Thanks for any advice. Adrian.
