Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I just unloaded an insurance auction buy from Fla. Red 2006 CS tip. with "mechanical" problems that apparently State Farm bought/covered the failure. I remember reading somewhere about this guy's problem and then he said State Farm was going to "fix" his failed engine problem. Didn't know comprehensive covered engine or trans blowouts, but apparently this guy has a friend in the agency? Evaluation. 1. Check oil filter.....found no filter in but metallic residue evident in residual oil. 2. Open oil drain, small amount of creamy oil residue found. Begin to fill pieces of puzzle as to nature of "mechanical" for insurance sale and the origin of vehicle. 3. Disconnect electrical connector in engine compartment to allow security and window, etc. operations while the engine is being dealt with. Updates to follow a.s.a.p.

POST 2Original post

This sounds like a fun/interesting project. I'm anxious to see your next entries. "Creamy" oil to me sounds like coolant mixed in; together with metal in the oil would indicate not just a head gasket but a serious failure. Perhaps a broken con rod holed the block?

POST 3Original post

I too will be looking forward to updates. Your threads tend to be very educational.
