Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I do check things but I prefer parts that fit.
Leading evidence: 'Check things' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check things' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

If I recall correctly during 2007 Porsche changes the pads.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Tire Rack said they were pulling these off the shelf until they get this resolved.
I dontt need new brakes. I need less dust. I searched the web and Akebono got the best reports, for low dust. Got them from Tire Rack. Once I figured out that the pads were glued in, it all came apart nicely. Then the bad news. No way my wear sensors are fitting the new pads. The U/notch is not the same. Not even real close. Anybody else have this problem ? Any ideas ? Hate to send them back.
I had the same problem. Got them from Amazon, so I just returned them for full refund and bought the EBC Redstuff ceramic. They fit fine. I think there is less dust but there is still some. Seems to wash-off easily with my pressure washer.
If you don't have the option of easy return, then racergreg's idea is fine. My original pads lasted over 45K miles, and even then still had lots of pad left. (no track events)
BTW, don't know what you mean by "glued-in". I managed to break a wear sensor on one side. Bought a generic (non-OEM) one off Amazon for ~$11.
I do check things but I prefer parts that fit.
Glad I am not the only one. Tire Rack said they were pulling these off the shelf until they get this resolved. I am looking at Hawk and EBC now.
This sounds like something to sort out with Akebono. They appear to be a company that cares about quality, not to mention working, products.
I liked them a lot. On a BMW. Eh.
The sensors aren't glued-in, more like melted in; it's really hard to get sensors out of old pads in one piece for re-use.
And I'll go you one better - rather than tying the sensors up out of the way, clip the sensor wire about 1-1/2" from the sensor plug (not the sensor itself) - strip a little insulation from each wire and short them together, twisting or soldering the two together.
wrap the wires around the top of the plug, Finish up with a tight wrap of electrical tape or heat shrink.
And remember to look at your pads every so often ...
I like cool carbon pads fwiw.
I had no problem removing the sensors from the old pads. No problem putting them back in. I will look at the cool carbon . I think PP has them . If the sensor dont fit. The pads, I wont get. :hilarious:
Common problem with a lot of aftermarket pads. An experienced brake tech will quickly drill the hole size needed and mount them up.
Personally, I hate wear sensors and can't get them zip tied out of the way fast enough.
Interesting. I would not expect this to be common issue. I find it difficult to be OK with this problem. Yes I did think about modding the pads to make them work. I really dont want to. Just seems wrong.
Those pads are made for older models. My 00 BS had them, 06 CS and 04 BS both had newer design. What year did their listing show ?
You could get the early sensors and switch them into these pads. I would just eliminate the sensors if it were me. Pretty easy to look at pads thru the wheel spokes.
Listing said they fit up to 09 I think. When I called Tire Rack they assured me they were correct for the car. I offered to buy sensors to fit the pads but they could not figure that out. I did not know that the early sensors would work. I only knew the pads did not fit my sensors. I need a seller that knows these cars.
If I recall correctly during 2007 Porsche changes the pads. I remember buying pads for my 06 and having to buy different spring clips that hold the pads in and different sensors also.
