Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Planet-9: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I just got the P0455 (EVAP large leak detected). Autozone guy said that 70% its the gas cap but has anyone else had this code come up and what did it end up being? Just want some advice before I get killed by the dealer. Thanks in advance

POST 2Original post

Did you try removing and re-installing the gas cap? That usually works. If not, see if you can borrow a cap from someone. Before I'd have it in for service, I'd replace the cap.

POST 3Original post

I actually tried that and initially it didnt work and still got the CEL but now after 3-4 more starts its gone. Oh well im not going to complain, i'll report back if it happens again. Thanks!

POST 4Original post

Glad to hear it. If it happens again, i'd get a new cap.

POST 5Original post

Seems like my CEL came on with codes P0445 and P0446 due to the cracks in the seal (see arrow in pic). Amazing that such a tiny problem causes the CEL to come on. Fingers crossed that there is nothing else to fix. This was a $20 repair so far...
