You can adjust the window height, but you run the risk of it not sealing properly if you lower it too much.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Loving my 911, will post some pics next wk when i havee the wheels refurbished GT3 alloys that are flaking look awfull !!! I wanted to know if you can disable the auto door locks on driving off ? as each time you go to get out of the car you have to yank the handle twice ! also my drivers door window has to drop slightly before i can open the door, if the roofs up, is there a way around this, as i find myself having to lift the handle, wait say half a second then all the way, if you forget and grab the handle as normal to open the door it opens but makes a aawfull sound as the glass gets tugged outwards and the door opens... bar that im so so happy , pig in sh1te id say

POST 2Original post

The auto-locking has to be changed by someone with a Porsche tester, as you have to change the coding in the alarm control module. It's a 5-minute job. As for the window drop, it sounds like something isn't quite right, as you should be able to open the door in one pull, without waiting.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks,so i need a porsche garage ! can you buy the kit to plug in and change the codes ?? as for the window, ive probably made it sound worse than it is, its a fraction of a second, but noticable, you simply raise the door handle which drops the window a fraction then open the door, im sure ill get used to it.. if you cant alter the window drop, looks like if anything the windows going too much up if that makes sense, so when its dropped slightly to open the door its not quite dropping enough...

POST 4Original post

Any decent Porsche indy will have a PST2 or PIWIS tester. If you are anywhere near me I'd be happy to do it for you. There isn't a DIY tool which will code the auto-locking, afaik. You can adjust the window height, but you run the risk of it not sealing properly if you lower it too much. I don't have a cabrio, but I can pull the handle without thinking about it and the window doesn't catch. Maybe other cab owners could comment.

POST 5Original post

Cab or coupe you have to wait for the window to drop, it is only a fraction of a second though.

POST 6Original post

I have a 996 Cab and there is a bit of a delay. But most times I have the roof and windows down, so don't notice it! The trick is to pull the door mechanism, holding the door closed and then push the door open. Sounds odd, but creates just enough delay to work well.

POST 7Original post

I've had a cab for three years now and cant say I've ever noticed any delay at all ..I just get straight in and out. The window drops instantly I touch and move the door handle inside or out.

POST 8Original post

It's only a problem if the autolock/anti-hijack is turned on. Then the doors deadlock (until you press unlock or remove key from ignition). This means the doors won't unlock with one pull (if lock still on). First pull manually overides lock out, second pull opens the door as usual. Of course external handles are completely disabled until you unlock them from inside. (that is the point of the anti-highjack!) NB: whether coupe or cab, even with anti-hijack off, if you barge the door as you pull the handle it will catch. This is because the window needs a small amount of time to drop (it is not instant). A quick pull on the handle will unlatch the door before the window drops (and thats not taking into account any external lag due to sticky door rubbers, motor age or lethargic microswitch etc).
