Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check are' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check are' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Suggestion
With the 996 (and all Porsches) you can rack up costs for replacing suspension/brake components that wear out with use.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
I´m looking at a 996 - 3.4 C4 1999. Currently 31.000 miles on the clock. New engine in 2007. The car it self has 135.000 miles on the clock.
Is it good news, or bad? I mean, the positive side of it is the new engine, the downside side is the many miles on the car it self.
I don't know what to think, in this case, about the engine/miles. Opinions are much appreciated...
When they get to that sort of mileage (or really anything over 75k) apart from the engine its more down to overall condition and regular servicing.
Assuming the engine is fine as its low miles, and the gearbox works properly then any other things that need doing could just as well need doing on a 75k example. Indeed one could argue that some of the common things will already have been done on the higher mileage car if its been properly looked after.
Likely things that you will need to check are ;
Coolant rads for corrosion/leaks
Aircon condenors for corrosion/leaks
Discs all round for corrosion/wear.
Suspension and anti roll bar bushes plus droplinks for wear /knocks
Body corrosion around door catch plates.
Regular specialist servicing
You could always get a pre purchase inspection done
Of course this all assumes that the car is very, very cheap due to high miles. If its the same price as a 75k car then forget it, as its resale value will be seriousle compromised by the mileage irrespective of the new engine.
FYI a new porsche supplied engine is now about £10k fitted
it's the usual story, buy on condition.

If you like the car, get it checked and if replacement items are required, factor these costs into the purchase price.
I should add that my 996 cab has now done 81.5k, but with a bit of work it passed the Hartech 'Ring of confidence' last year with flying colours to get on their lifetime maintenance programme.
The bill this this year, for extras, was about £20.
However, the holiday that I took whilst they did this, was considerably more!

I'm also looking at one, 75.000 miles, same car, C4. But with the original engine.
Both cars are very nice. And the owners have spend time and money on them.
Hmmm... I will go and have a secound look. Thanks for your imput, boys...
