Occasionally when starting, I have the clutch all the way down, and the starter won't engage. I hasn't to remove the key and start over. Anyone else experience this?
Take a look at this thread:

Had mine replaced for the second time yesterday. Dealer assures me it is a re-designed switch. Given the high rate of failure , lets hope so.
Does your work-order have the new part number? I had mine replaced a couple months ago - the dealer said they were told not to use the old switch - and I guess the new ones were not available in large numbers at that time .... so PCNA was only sending them out on a limited basis. Once the shop conducted a battery of tests and documented my car's condition, PCNA was to FedEx the new part overnight to my dealer. Unfortunately FedEx dropped the ball and the part didn't arrive until the shop was closing on a Friday - so I ended up loosing use of my car for a total of 4 days over a 5 minute job.
Anyway, the SA said the part was definitley a re-design - but they didn't have a part-number or invoice from PCNA. It came in a generic box with no identification. I got the impression that it was a field trial or prototype. My workorder usually shows all parts and materials used - even warranty stuff, but this one just said something generic like "New starter interlock switch" or whatever. They also billed PCNA for a good amount of diagnostic time.
So far, it works great. Even when new, I always used to have a slight delay before the started energized. And the clutch position was always critical. Out of habit, I always used to mash the petal to the floor.
With the new part, I don't notice these issues - seems to work like it should.

12 hours and holding
Sounds like it's real and not my imagination. Thanks for the input. I'll have the dealer check it out the next time it's in.
It's real, and it gets worse quickly.
Replacing clutch lockout switch
I replaced the start-lockout switch on my 09 987.2. It's about a 10 minute job once you know/see where the switch is. The screw on mine is a T10 torx. I just unplugged the two leads and then the screw. The screw head is a little hard to get to - there's very little space between it and the left hand footwell wall. The old switch had the same number as the new.
